Heres the actual link for anyone that wants it.
Well I put it into Photobucket, so it should be visible!
But anyway its a grinning Obama next to an AR and he's saying "You didn't build that!"
Lulz, right?
So how are PSA's LPKs? Haven't heard many complaints, but I haven't looked too closely either.
Running one on my 16". FCG is super smooth (no "stages or grit") and does not have any discernible creep. The rest of the LPK I have had no issues with. Take down pins are neither stupid tight, or loose. Mag and bolt release are also non issue.
My Mk12 build is also going to have a PSA lower, LPK sans FCG.
I am not a huge fan of PSA based on wait times, customer service, etc.
However, I will give credit where credit is due.
Their LPK has a damn nice trigger. Amazingly so at the price.
Their uppers are also amazing quality at the price.
They are like that restaurant with ugly waitresses, a grumpy cook, and dingy setting that you go to because the food is so damn good plus a bargain.
I've assembled two lowers with PSA kits.
First one was a Tactical Innovation lower, and the roll pins were very tight and a pain in the ass, but I ended up getting them in.
Second lower was a Rainier forged lower. After about an HOUR I finally managed to get the trigger guard and bolt catch roll pins 95% of the way in. 95% of the way in due to the fact that no matter how much I try to drive them in that last 5%, they wont move and the punch just goes into the center of the pin and gets stuck.
So now I have a dinged up lower with roll pins that aren't all the way in.
This combined with the fact that both my orders from them took 15 days to get to my house, I will spend my money elsewhere in the future.
We recently used a PSA LPK for my wife's first build/assembly, and the bolt catch pin was pretty tight. It wouldn't fit in to the usual roll pin starter for that part, and had to use the next larger, but it still went in with no real fuss. Even the trigger guard roll pin went in relatively smooth, and it was my wife's first time driving them in. That order was placed on Sunday, Oct 7, and was in my hands Monday, Oct 15th. I didn't think that was too bad with a fed holiday and a weekend between the dates.
I've got another PSA LPK in a rifle I built later last year, it has a couple thousand rounds through it, no problems.
whats nice about them is you can get different grips included, including the magpul ones. so i dont have another standard grip from a lpk to throw into my parts box that will never get used.
Copy that.
My experience may have been a combination of my lowers being on the tight side and the pins being of the large side, and my order may have taken longer than average to ship, but all I know is it was a big hassle and at the end of the day I had a less than perfect end result.
But it did happen twice, so I don't feel like taking the risk a third time. Just my $0.02
Not that all the triggers from PSA will feel the same, but the one I have is smoother than my ACT
Palmetto gets some of my ammo biz thats about it
Oh and my lower was a PSA... I'm surprised we haven't heard a bunch of new guys breaking ears off with these large trigger guard roll pins.
PSA is local to me so I buy from their retail outlets (mainly ammo and a few odds and ends). They used to do some of the gun shows around here too.
I built a PSA lower using a PSA LPK last year for my old man for his birthday. Assembly was unremarkable (i.e. no issues with parts or assembly). He has since topped it with a PSA 16" Midlength upper, and after a few minor teething issues (mainly attributed to his lack of proper lubrication and operation) the weapon has operated without failure.
He probably only has a few hundred rounds through the carbine and is just a bench plinker, but it has proven a good value for him. My father did experience some of their no infamous customer service when purchasing the upper though. I personally believe they are growing too much too fast and their CS is a result.
I've got son #2 on the way, and have considered picking up a couple of lowers for the both of them to put away and build with them when they are older. That said, I probably wouldn't top them with PSA uppers or buy one of their complete rifles just due to the other high quality offerings currently available.
PSA definitely leaves some to be desired in the trigger dept.
Does it matter if you get one of their MOE LPK's with the ACT?
Thanks
I installed a PSA kit in one of my lowers and it's got one of the best feeling GI triggers that I have seen. I do agree that the roll pins were a pain in the ass to get in but other than that the LPK has been working perfectly fine. As for PSA's customer service, I have had nothing but good experiences with them.
.....
And it's a great ad.
Sounds like there is some variability with the triggers from PSA. Has anyone gotten a lousy trigger from DD? I'm wondering if its just the luck of the draw or if other companies have more consistency as for what to expect...
Hah, this is a great promo. One of the best!
The ad is classic.
The PSA lpks I have installed were unremarkable as well. Everything went together as they were supposed to. Only time will tell as to the quality.
the triggers are great on all three of my LPKs.
One classic, one premium, and one pistol kit.
again, I want to be clear, I think they have great quality and great prices.
But, all those things you are used to with serious companies-
charged when ship, call and change order, update prices if change in your favor, etc. drive me up a wall. those, like my pistol kit missing the end plate, all fall on them and their customer service, attitude, etc.
other stuff, like long waits, are simply due to how busy everyone is buying right now and can't be pinned on them.
the other thing that can't be pinned on them, but aggravates me even more, is that when someone posts with customer services issues, etc. they have a ton of 'mo fan boys that flame, go nuts, insult post counts, etc. on another AR forum. why the hell a reseller and assembler of manufactured items gets that kind of club I don't know. I have owned an AR since the early 80s and professionally been using one since mid-80s. Beginning in a unit that selects/indocs it's personnel and continue to do so. And someone wants to raise hell their post count is 10x mine?
It is kind of weird.
But again, quality of the items has not been and issue and very good prices.
Funny, I ordered the parts for my build from 4 different venders at the same time, and PSA took twice as long as anyone else and three times as long as some to get my order to me.
They also took 15 days to get an order to me about 8 months ago as well... Mystifying.
I had no issues building my lower yesterday with the LPK. I can't complain about the trigger too much, contact area appears to be polished and it works.
They're super slow. I ordered on 10/1 and got my package on 10/15. No complaints other than that. I just wished I'd have had the forethought to order a castle nut wrench.
This horse has been beat to death on numerous threads.
They are slow, and their quality control & customer service absolutely needs improvement. They have a good product, and are on their way to becoming one of the higher end suppliers of reliable quality rifles, parts, and accessories - if they address the two above flaws.
Regrettably they are causing some serious damage to themselves here and on other like forums (3 that I know of and visit frequently) with said issues.
Business 101. Lose one customer to bad service or a botched order, lose 500 more because the one posted it on a public forum.
A complete upper for $280? That has to be too good to be true.
I live in north Idaho and they have been great to me. Been buying from them for a couple years now.
Their triggers have been nice compared to some of the others I have used. Ordered an AGL and SSA-E from them and as long as it says "in stock" they have shipped within a day or two of ordering and my ship time is about 7 days. The shipping times have been pretty good considering I am almost all the way across the country. Especially since they charge 8 bucks for shipping as opposed to 30 for second day.
I ordered some specific lower parts last time and they didn't show up in the box. Called CS and left a message. Later that day I got a call back and no questions asked they mailed me, at no extra charge, the parts.
They also have very nice lowers. Great fit and finish. Never had aproblem with LPKs either. I believe that they can't really have a guy sitting there with a vernier caliper checking every roll pin, detent pin and take down pin. Built LPKs into Aero, Palmetto, Spikes and Sun Devil lowers.
On a different note. Up here we of course have Rainier, which I love to death, but also Surplus Ammo. Surplus is great with ammo and their parts prices are hard to beat. Also I get stuff in about 2 days from them.
Had no issues with the PSA MOE LPK I purchased and used in one of the Aero Precision PSA lowers. Very happy with it, and would definitely buy one again.
No issues, either, with order or shipping time.
I'm a very happy PSA customer and will definitely do business with them again.
