Does anyone have any inputs on the barrels they sell? I emailed them to ask who mfg the barrels for them and I was told that they make them.
Thanks for your time and inputs

Their 'better' chrome-lined barrels ($134.99 vs. the non-chromed $99 ones) are marked as just being 4140 chromoly steel. Personally I'd rather spend just a little more for a CMV bbl, if budget is an issue. If you plan on keeping it for a long time and shooting it a lot, CMV steel is the least you should consider, if not CHF. You're only looking at a $165 difference between the SAA chromoly and a BCM CHF, and a $35 difference between the SAA and a PSA CMV.
I've been to the shop several times, and they are either unaware of their barrel specs or where they get them from. I would spend a little more to buy known quality.
agree with what everyone says. For not a lot more, you can get a much higher quality barrel. For an extra $158 you can get a CHF 1:7 DD barrel with a low profile gas block already pinned on. That alone will save you another 50 bucks or so at least.

I was under the impression that Black Hole Armory makes their barrels. They are just north of me. I was planning on heading up there with one of my shooting buddies in a day or so, and I will report back.
Black Hole Weaponry makes their stainless barrels and they are marked as such. They also have FN hammer forged 16" M4 profile barrels and they have the FN logo stamped in them. I'm not sure where their cheap 4140 surplus ammo marked barrels come from. I was there today but forgot to ask. Probably wouldn't tell me anyways.
It still takes a lot of shooting to wear out a 4140 steel barrel
I really do appreciate the inputs about better barrels I really do. But, unless one or two of you gentlemen would like to kick in the extra money I can only afford what I can afford. I am selling off some of my stuff just to try and get this build done as it is.
This build will not be attending 30 or 40 carbine classes nor will it ever be able to afford the 20-30 thousand rounds it will take to shoot out the barrel. A 4140 steel barrel will be just fine. I just want to be able to get the best barrel I can afford. Times are tough, as we all know, and it doesn't look like things are going to be getting any better any time soon.
Thank you again for your valuable inputs
Which barrel are you going to get? The 134 chromelined or the 99 dollar one. The reason i ask is right now psa has a hammer forged cmv barrel for 169. When are you planning to purchase if you already have not purchased.
Edit: its actually not hammer forged, but made by fn. It is midlength if you do not have a gas tube yet midlength should not be a problem. As long as you do not mind running a middy. If you can't afford the extra 30-50 dollars that is completely understandable. I just thought i would say something in case you can afford a slight increase in price, but not a big increase. Im sure the 4140 would be fine for your intended use.
