This is exactly correct.
Again, buy a 6920.

People always forget the incidentals.
Sling
Mags
Light
RDS
AMMO!
Typically an adequate entry level setup will run an additional $800 to the total purchase.
Drop the light and RDS and you are down to $300 with 450 rounds of milsurp and 5 mags.
Much like the rifle, don't skimp on quality when it comes to add ons.
Error 504 - Gateway time out double tap.
From the names you mentioned, Daniel Defense is the one providing quality. I have had great luck with their products and they have an excellent reputation (but some trouble with LPK quality recently).
A build?
As for barrel, 1:7.
Get a Cold Hammer Forged barrel made by FN. Noveske and PSA sell them. (avoid the other PSA crap)
Daniel Defense sells a quality M4 upper. I bought a couple for 85 bucks each.
Gas tube, you can get from Brownells.
Get a proper BCG HP MPI. Again, Daniel Defense sells them.
I plan to get very comfortable using the Iron sights on whatever rifle I purchase before buying a red dot sight. However, from your list I currently have a TLR1, 8 steel military issue M4 magazines, 1 pmag all fully loaded. I would buy a nice sling maybe a VTAC or a Magpul MS3
I think I'm going to find a colt 6920 at a local Walmart and put it on layaway. I can alway buy a DDM4V3 when I get my bonus but I want to ensure I have an assault rifle before they get banned.
They aren't getting banned anytime soon and if they did how do you know there will be a "grandfather clause"? If you're worried about a ban and that is your motivation you should rethink your purchase.
But, you may want to buy before prices go full metal retard.
+1 for G & R Tactical.
I plan on eventually getting a Colt here:

Grant can make the modifications to make it legal in my state.
He has also always taken my calls with questions despite me not buying a lot of stuff - yet.
If you have more time to sit on it, the 6720 is also a great option, but if Sprawl Mart can set you up with a 6920 and it works for you, there are far worse options and very few that are even comparable (and generally for more effort).
Mostly, it'll serve you well to still get completely lost in the myriad of old 'First AR, what should I get' threads, even if you spend hours reading and change nothing about your decision (I wouldn't - you're on the right track) the confidence of knowing you got it right the first time and are on the cry once plan is worth the time spent.
