Barrel Twist vs Bullet Weight
Hopefully I will be picking up my Daniel Defence M4/AR style rifle tomorrow, all depends if it ships today.
Over the past week or 2 I have been doing alot searching and have learned alot. Mostly on reloading the 5.56/223. Lately I have been looking at bullet weight vs barrel twist.
Maybe, I'm using the wrong key words for my search and/or looking in the wrong section.
What I have gathered sofar from the searches I have done.
The lower the number of twist, the hight the spin rate of the bullet when the bullet exit the barrel.
The 1-7 twist barrels prefer heavier bullets.
I know nothing is set in stone when it comes to this debate.
From what I have gathered here and other sites is the that the 1-7 twist barrels prefer 65g + bullet better than the 60g and lower weight bullets.
I also see that people with the 1-7 barrle twist running a 55 grain bullet and smaller, mostly for general plinking and distances less than 150 yards and keeping somewhat decient accuracy.
I am wanting to get into 3 gun matches in my area, so that how I set the gun up when I placed my order with DD.
So with my barrel being a 1-7 twist should I stick with a 60/65g + bullet and heavier when shooting?
Lets see if I have this somewhat correct. (please don't bite my head off, this is what I have noticed from all my research)
1-7 twist = 60g + bullet.
1-8 twist = 50g to 60g bullet.
1-9 twist = 50g and smaller.
Thanks
