I do all kinds of goofy techniques... but i agree... not need to use a torque wrench and surgical coverings for this job.
Just snug it up good and stake the shit.
All of my receiver extensions wanted to twist. (All from BCM)
I start them off to the left and when I tighten the castle nut it straightens itself out.
I would always recommend securing the lower in a vice when installing the receiver extension.
