So what is the word on availability of 30rnd mags in the near term.
Will manufacturers be willing and able to ramp up production so we can actually buy something at reasonable prices?
Anyone hear any reliable talk at SHOT or from manufacturers?

I think they're still catching up. You can order from some places as a back ordered product.
I ordered a special of 10 pmag30's for $100 on Christmas Eve and they are still listed as back ordered.
If you shop around you can still try to backorder some 30 round mags. I know GT Dist stopped doing backorders on Dec 26. But if you search around, there are still a few websites doing backorders on pmags. I ordered a few from West Fork Armory.
They're going for $60 on gunbroker. Brownells won't even back order them now.
I back ordered some USGI mags there just incase they ever catch up.
Can always go the E-Lander mag route? Ive got 10 on order, supposedly shipping soon, most people seem to have good things to say about them. And isn't brownells still taking back orders for their in-house brand of usgi style mags?
I would stop in your local gun shops weekly. I have been doing that and I had some luck catching them while receiving shipments. Unfortunately they just jacked up the price of pmags to 50 bucks per.
Also if you have any military buddies try hitting them up. One of my buddies has about 50 mags from his past deployments and was willing to trade some.
DSG is allowing backorders of Pmags and they are a listed distributer on Magpuls site. I have a couple orders in with them as of this week.
Who knows?
I forget how they rolled out the 94 scam. I'd think that the production of mags will have a few months before any type of ban could make it into law.
Hopefully congress will grow some brains and balls by then and this will all gridlock to nowhereville.
I couldnt find anything on the any of the usual internet sites so i decided to just try the local gun shops. I called about 3 shops and then stopped into my usual gun shop and found 2, yeah, just 2 pmags. He cut me a "deal" and sold them to me for $40 a pop. Dont know about the mainland but its scarce in Hawaii for mags and ammunition.

I went to this small local shop they said they have a few as of Wednesday pmags 30rd at 19.99
there a newer store and there website doesnt have really anything listed but there number is 419-865-0174
I scored a dozen orange p-mags when everyone had bought up all the other ones. Still have 20 USGI metal mags on backorder with a reputable company. Brings my total up to a enough that I'm comfortable.
There may be a glut of 30 rounders soon, all used and from NY.:D
It seems it will take a while to catch up. My LGS got 600 in and sold out in 2hours. With people buying up stock like that even on the local level, it doesn't look to promising.
Its ridiculous. I had a supplier tell me they had Lancer AWF 30 round mags in stock, but would only ship to my P.D. They took the cash, and now its hurry up and wait for the manufacturer to get them to him.
600 mags sold in 2 hours tells me that people bought in bulk to flip them on Gunbroker or on a forum's EE.
Meanwhile, my buddy finally got 90% of his rifle together, (still needs a free float, sights, and optic.)
And he has 2 mags he got from his brother.
Needless to say, I got my eyes peeled for him.
But I refuse to pay these asinine prices.
Exactly, that is what I did after the 2004 AWB expiration and especially in the run-up to the 2008 election. I bought the minimum I wanted for myself and the next two generations. If we end up with politicians who defend our rights then great, I have guns and mags to last forever. But if in the next 20-30 years they buckle and pass another ban then at least I have a core set of gear for my family. I was able to build up to 19 at-risk rifles and pistols and a few hundred mags for them. Over the recent years I have distributed some of these to family members, I am not locking them all up, but want them out being used as much as possible. I want to not only pass on my guns to future generations but the passion for them and the skills to use and maintain them.
IMO, it's just money. If you ever really needed the mags you wouldn't be mad you overpaid for them... Just saying.....
Not all of the prices are ridiculous. You just have to hustle a little more to find a good deal.
I just got 6 PMAG Gen 3s w/window shipped to me for $15 ea.
PM me if there are any more
I guess there is a bright side...... everyone has free shipping on all out of stock items.
Damn.... maybe I'll try that backorder deal.
I hope you didn't read the ad wrong and paid $90 for 6 dust covers :D
I back-ordered 2 sets of the holiday pack deals they had(20 with windows, 20 without) just to see what would come, if anything. Ordered both on 12/24 and received the windowed ones yesterday. Non-window still shows on back-order but at least they are still holding the price.
Just got back from Shot. Didn't really see or hear any mag manufacturers say that they are doing any more or less to get mags out the door.
Magpul showed a bunch of new PMAG's (MOE, 25rd 308, 10/5rd, etc), but don't think we will see any of them for 3-4 months.

For what it's worth...
Mom stopped by the house yesterday and saw my SBR on the coffee table and said Congress will never get a ban done.
I hope Mom is right! :p
One of my LGS's had what appeared to be 10 new USGI mags with the green follower behind the counter. I'm pretty sure they weren't trying to advertise that fact either.
