I have to agree, at 5'10" 220lbs the A2 stock is a pain in the ass to use without my plate carrier.

90% of the guys in my unit don't wear the dick flap or the ass panel for reasons stated above. Hell half don't wear the god awful throat protector either.
I 6'1 190lbs and the a2 stock is a nightmare for me still.
Yes, it does. The SPC at least gives you space to mount it a touch higher, and mostly room to tape or cord the thing so it stays forward - honestly it got omitted anyway.
The A5 has been needed for a while - nothing stupider than seeing 5' lady warriors trying to figure out how to suck less at shooting when the LOP on the stock is at least 3" away from reasonable. It's usually funnier when you're in a special unit where the SNCO/Officer cadres live on FOBs or larger, and our support teams live out of PBs and OP's or live out of MRAPs and LAVs - guess who gets M4's.
MTV was easily among the worst piles of crap devised - still basically garbage for maritime use. The right answer is still the Eagle plate carrier with the CIRAS type one-cord release (Eagle QRPC), yet MarCorSysCom went and paid 2x as much for the stupid MTV.
I'm the median man, and that damned A2 stock doesn't fit me in a T-shirt; no idea how anyone was using it with body armor.
I built an A1 clone, and that stock length works for me.
The adjustable buttstock sounds like a winner.

I jumped out of a helicopter to hot-fuel one time, thought I'd take a piss. About 2/3rds of the way through my download, I realized I was pissing on the back side of the nut flap.
To the amusement of my fellow passengers, I got back in the bird covered in my own piss from the waist down.
Holy **** does that thing look awful.
I had no idea.
I will now stop complaining about my 28lb duty belt and soft BA.
EDIT: this was re the mtv/imtv
