How would you rate the rail as far as comfortability? Do you find that your fingers slip in the 'holes'? Does it have a "cheese grater" feel?

The edge of the slots aren't really bevelled, but they're not sharp.
The funny thing is, if they angled the slots in the opposite direction, they would be perpendicular to most people's thumbs, instead of running parallel. I think this would greatly cut down on risk of touching the gas tube.
I think there might be a small risk of getting your fingers through it, whether it's while shooting, or just picking up/handing off the rifle. A row of keymod rail covers would cure that.
Anyone have trouble getting theirs to mount straight? Mine is a bit canted to the side.
Yeah. There's some tolerance built into the anti-tilt tabs so they fit on a variety of uppers, meaning they won't exactly center the rail.
The way I addressed this was using a Bobro scope mount from one of my other rifles and latching it to both the Fortis rail and my upper receiver rail. This held both rails centered with each other so the Fortis didn't have any cant to it. It lines right up with my upper.
Give it a try and let me know how it turns out. I also tried it with my ADM mount for kicks.
I also used a Bobro to keep it straight.
if anyone can chime in, would really appreciate it.
I got a BCM MID-750-LWC from G&R sometime ago. Currently have a Magpul MOE handguards, and now interested with this Fortis rail.
Unfortunately, I'm not too comfortable with removing the delta ring assembly and front sight gas block and replace it with a low profile gas block. Only tool I have is a Dremel.
Is there a work around for this? Or should I wait for the 10" so I don't have to mess with front sight?
I'm not LEO/MIL so I'm trying to keep it realistic.
Thanks in advance
If you have a Dremel, you have the only tool you need. There are plenty of YouTube videos and information around here about shaving the front sight base (cutting it off to make it a low-profile gas block) and cutting off the delta ring. It really is not that big of a deal if you have any mechanical ability at all.
What he said. Just pop your tapered pins out of your FSB using a punch and hammer (or a press if you have one), the shave it down and paint it. You may want to shave it, slide it on and see if the rail clears before you put the final touches of paint on it as it may require more trimming. The delta ring is also fairly easy to remove with a dremel and a pair of pliars. Just take your time and make sure you aren't cutting into your barrel nut or receiver. Also, as stated, youtube is your friend. Good luck.
In reality, you can shave an FSB in place. It really isn't that hard. Those BCM FSB pins are a bitch.
True words. I had to beat the living hell out of mine to get them out. The trick is to use an oversized punch and a decent sized hammer. The FSB definitely can be shaved in place, I just prefer to take them off as it makes it easier to shape it and it gets it away from things you might not want that cutting wheel to touch.
