I'm looking for a piston system for the ease of maintenance ...
I have a very busy life with little time to spend cleaning/maintaining my guns. I also have young children whom I don't want climbing all over me while I have a gun laid out on the table for clueing. I basically want to shoot the carbine at the range, come home and lock it up until next time. Cleaning at a minimum.
At the same time I also want it to be a quality piece, reliable, and accurate, comfortable to shoot end also viscerally appealing to me.
That's why I was looking at a piston gun - ease of maintenance.
Thanks for all your replies. I'll keep looking !

What modifications? I thought they literally used AA complete uppers that they rebadged?
