Re: Gas block mounted front sight?
S&W gas block mounted MI brand flip sight. 5 yrs old 2500 rounds and keeps 2 inch groups at 100 yard (45 year old eyes and medium skill). Cost was low, time involved was low. It hit the sweet spot for me for cost and effectiveness.

Most railed gas blocks have their picatinny rail at a lower plane than your upper receiver. Not every manufacturer makes a front sight that will accommodate this. Troy does, but it IS a different model than their normal front sight and is noticeably taller.
Necessary taller because it has to make up for the lower height of the gasblock.
Does anyone know the .xxx differential between the main rail height and the (lower) gasblock height? Or does anyone know the gasblock height in relation to the receiver height?
Main rail height is .530 from the top of the receiver.
