The older rails are the omega x rails and the new ones go by a different name. They now use a mount kinda similar to the lite rails. Maybe someone else can post some pics?

The Omega X rail is taller than it is wide, with the top and bottom rails equidistant from the bore. It has QD swivels on the receiver end of it.: Attachment 15903
The new rail is the DDM4 rail. The cross section is more teardrop shaped, with the bottom closer to the bore than the top. It also has QD mounts at both ends of the rail. It's a slim, small rail in the hand. I like it a lot.

Check the wear on the bolt cam pin. It shows wear very fast.

Picked up the rifle tonight. It was clearly new; even the friction surfaces of the bolt cam pin had plenty of black left on them.

Check the crown, inside the flash hider. I would be much less worried about round count than improper cleaning techniques used by someone trying to clean every bit of carbon in order to sell a rifle. If possible meet up at a range and bring known quality ammo and mags to check function and accuracy. People offload their lemon guns all the time to unsuspecting buyers. Check for signs that someone worked on it (marred hardware, trigger pins, ect) its not necessarily bad if it was worked on, I just would want a feel for the guy who did the work. AR's are simple enough machines but there are some DUMB people out there!
