ATI has them in stock on their web site for $44. I got one a month ago from Palmetto with a .22 build in mind. Maybe a while before I can get that done. Thinking now of building it and trying it with a 5.56 upper to see if it busts like the one on arfcom while its still under warranty.
steel inserts on pistol frames are for the slide rail, AR lower doesn't require anything like that. My main concern on polymer AR lowers is the strength of the receiver extension area. Polymer has already made its way into pistol frames, magazines, etc and proven they are superior materials for the application. I wouldnt write off polymer lowers. Lower isnt a stress component on the AR
