Hey guys,
I am thinking about picking up a full auto M16 dealy. What is the best setup? Basically, I mean from an NFA perspective. I want the maximum flexability, quality etc.
Thanks!

RDIAS.
Probably a factory M16A1 for spec sear, etc.
Or an RDIAS for use in all your current SBR's.
Another M16A1 vote. Though I can see the value in a RDIAS.
Is there any disadvantage in an a1 vs a2> The A2s seem more costly. I figure if I get one I would rarely shoot the gun with the Colt upper anyway. I suspect I would buy shorty upper for blasting fun. Will I be limited by the A1 in any way?
Well as far as the lowers are concerned, the A1s will obviously be older than the A2s, for one so additional wear may be an issue. However the main difference lies in the fact that the A1s are full auto where as the A2s are 3 round burst. I am sure you could change out the guts of an A2 to make it straight FA but that is the way they come form the factory. Honestly I don't think there would be much difference at all between the 2. Given they were in comparable condition I would say go for whatever is cheaper.
That's kind of what I was thinking. Plus, I think I will prefer full auto (as this is a gun I will be shooting for fun, not issuing to my troops).
Don't consider a DIAS. Only, and I mean only, get a Colt (no other brand) M16. A DIAS only gives you full auto, but you will never have an M16 by owning a DIAS. Full auto is not that useful. What is cool is to own a real Colt M16. A factory assault rifle.
the 3 rd burst system in the A2 is badly done.. 1st of all! it is not like the HK MP5 or G3 system whereby say you shoot the 1st burst of 2 rd! the next burst will be 1 rd! before it resets to go for another 3 rds!
I would rather go with a FA and trigger control the burst! with some getting use to we can do 2 or 3 rd burst easy!
I think RDIAS is so much more flexible !you can shoot up a host gun and change it out and have a new gun at very minimal cost!
I have mine on a POF PIston AR and it works great and virtually maintainance free!

I would think most would rather own a RDIAS, as opposed to just the coolness factor of a "real, authentic" Colt M16. To each his own I suppose.
