Doh.
I just tried and it let me add 500 or 50,000 of them to my cart (still for the low shipping rate of $13.95). That's not normal for BCM.
WHEN I tried to add 500 of an upper that was "In Stock" it said nope--"The quantity of the following item in your cart has been adjusted to meet the available quantity we currently have in stock: BCM BFH 14.5" Mid Length (LIGHT WEIGHT) Upper Receiver Group w/ Centurion Arms C4 12" Handguard - A2 Flash Hider (NFA rules apply)" and dropped the quantity down to 19.
This could just be MORE of the "forgot to mark them 'out of stock'" glitch, which based on their comments seems to be the case, but one can still hope!!
It's clearly a glitch, and all you guys are doing is creating more work for bcm. Be patient and they will announce when they are ready. They always have in the past
Meh, when you warn people: "PLEASE NOTE: These batches will sell out quickly" (and have sold out batches in minutes), I think you have to expect that people will buy them ASAP if they can.
I know I didn't even add a BCG to the order since I didn't want to risk them selling out before I got my CC info typed in (which has happened before during the ammo and pmag craze).
It's marked "out of stock" now.
I got an email saying
"Just for future reference on products listed on our website which may assist you in the future.
If a product on our website shows as "in-stock" it is indeed in-stock (on the shelves in the box etc.) and ready to ship. We have noticed that many websites may state a product is in stock but is actually put on back order when your order is placed. This creates confusion for customers. We have tried to create a customer friendly website to avoid this confusion. So if a product shows as "in-stock" on our website, it is in-stock and ready to ship. Once processed, your package would then ship USPS Priority Mail or UPS Ground. If "Out of Stock", please be sure to sign up for our email alerts."

Still, when you say, "Please Note: High demand items like, Standard Capacity AR15 Magazines, Bolt Carrier Groups, Upper Receiver Groups, etc, will sell out again in only minutes," I think you have to assume people will buy something that's not marked "out of stock" even if it's not "in stock" because they'd rather be wrong and get refunded than be wrong and not get an upper they wanted because it sold out in minutes.
I know they are still leading up to the product launch and wanting to keep everyone on their toes, but why not give the official release date and do away with all the "website glitch, out of stock / in stock" drama. You'd think enough reviews and hands-on time has gone by now? It sure would save them the trouble of having to cancel / refund all the people who purchased one of these last night. The email that evil1joe received doesn't explain how or why the ELW fluted uppers were available for purchase, unless that is their way of saying "you have successfully submitted an order for a back ordered item that will be released some time this spring."
Just my thoughts... back to 50+ pages of more speculation...
I too placed an order for the FLUTED EWL 14.5" KMR upper last night on the off chance that it wasn't a glitch. I just got a phone call from BCM saying that they order did process due to an error on the website and that they would fully refund my payment. The gentleman I spoke with was very apologetic for the inconvenience. He added that while he couldn't comment on the expected release date, they will post on Facebook when the KMRs are available in addition to sending out the product email to those who sign up.
Got a voice mail from them saying "due to an unforeseen error" the upper was available for purchase on the website, but was net yet available for sale. Order was canceled, CC will be refunded.
I'm sure they have had enough hands on time. At this point they are working on manufacturing. They need to manufacture enough of the product so that it's available to more people when they launch it. They probably have a good idea of how many will sell within the first 3 days of going live and they want to make sure they exceed that number.
