It certainly helps give me a reference for my holdover inside 25yrds.
Starting fresh with a new barrel, go with a pinned low pro gas block like our BRT MicroPin Gas Block.
If you already have an FSB upper and it's going to be your ONLY upper, go with the chop and grind.
If its in your budget, going with two uppers is a nice choice.
One "fighting" style with MOE handguards, FSB and red dot.
One "precision" style with free float and magnified optics.
Chopping is easy and actually quite relaxing.
Get a $40 angle grinder and a $30 bench grinder from WalMart. Don't bother with a hacksaw or dremel, the steel is VERY hard.
Rig the FSB in a vise, chop the top and bottom lug and swivel with the angle grinder, and then use the bench grinder to smooth it all over. Don't let it get too hot.
Resist the urge to do touch-up work after it's been installed. You WILL nick the barrel. Do it right, disassemble it and then grind on just the FSB. Ask me how I know.
Feel free to PM me with factual examples of your unsubstantiated claims. Yours and others constant attempts to "call me out" publicly to try to earn points with the "club" is just derailing topics of people who are actually looking for help.
I dont believe in dictatorships. Thats why I participate in forums and not blogs.
Yikes, I sure hope you meant to say hold UNDER...
^^^ Yikes! What do you have, like a 10foot zero or something???
