Very loud. It is a true muzzle break
It's one of the best pure muzzle breaks out there. I've been running one for a couple of years and love it. It emits a side concussion your buddies will hate you for.
Am I correct?
A muzzle brake allows for faster follow up shots at the expense of deafening the shooter and those around him?
Or, am I way off base?
It works well as a break, with the obvious noise/concussion effect that goes along with that. However it makes a great sacrificial baffle for Surefire's SOCOM cans.
It will help with follow up shots but it doesn't fight muzzle rise as much as say a battlecomp. It mainly is for reducing recoil as any other mb does. I have a PWS 556 on bcm middy. It's a mix of flash hider and mb. It's also loud. I will be getting a surefire mb myself soon. If you want something not as rough on ears and really controls muzzle flip I'd get a battlecomp
As recoil in a .223/5.56 caliber is (at least to me) so minimal as to be almost non-existent, is this added piece of equipment really going to be of significant benefit?
I'm still in the learning phase...
I have PWS fsc556, it reduced recoil by about 20-25% if I had to guess. But it makes such a significant concussion for the shooter and those standing around. In an effort to get my wife to be more handy with an AR, I got a linear comp in an effort to make the blast more palatable.
If you're anywhere between 4-8 with the muzzle it's hardly noticeable, anywhere else the concussion can make your heart skip, that being said I love mine, imo, it does a great job at reducing muzzle rise.I haven't fired it at night yet, but the comparison videos I've seen online make it an effective flash sup as well.

I think it's a good comp if you don't mind the noise.
