Older Daniel Defense vs. Current Daniel Defense
Hi guys, I have an early production Daniel Defense, a low SN AJ model roll marked Savannah. It has the DD A1.5 rear sight and originally had some uncontrolled windage movement so was swapped without any further issues by DD Customer Service. The bolt and firing pin in this particular model suffered from some cosmetic issues, but have not given any problems. I did swap the firing pin for a new one just because the original looked like it was used and corroded.
I understand they have made some pretty extensive changes since releasing their first rifles and are currently viewed as some of the best available. I looked over one a couple of weeks ago and was impressed with the overall appearance. I thought the new FSB looked really nice.
Are the current production rifles so much better that the early versions are viewed as inferior? Are there any appreciable differences that warrant getting rid of the one I have and buying a Colt MP or a new Daniel Defense? I want to be one of the cool guys:haha:

I know it doesn't affect function, but I don't buy a car in the wrong color just because it drives good either. I have no idea whether mine has a CHF or a button rifled barrel.
On their website it shows you how to tell the difference. Mine seems to be button.
