Shortly after the Walther PPQ came out, I bought a BladeTech OWB for it. The gun never really "clicked" into it well, like all my other BladeTechs. Although I never actually dumped the gun, I emailed them about 4 months after I bought it that the holster wasn't performing up to my expectations. They apologized all over the place, had me ship it back to them and told me they would either re-mold it or replace it. About two weeks later I received a brand new one from them with a TekLok attached (I had sent it bare) and another apology. No complaints from me. I consider that to be good customer service.
I have emailed and left a voicemail with customer service to contact me with information. Im hoping that they will offer to replace the parts that are damaged caused by their holster failing.
rocketman:
the screws backed themselves out and allowing the holster and gun fall off of my belt and gun to come out of the holster and skid across the pavement knocking a chunk out of my front trijicon night sights and several chunks out of the rosewood grips.
Thats a tough one right there. If the fasteners or kydex had broken there might be some merit to your complaint. Mechanical fasteners loosen all the time, you should have been more diligent in checking over your gear.
You may get lucky and they pony up something.

I believe that Blade-Tech also recommends that you adjust your holster for your gun, and then Locktite in the screws....
I've used Blade-Teech holsters for years, for both carry and competition, for both autopistols and revolvers. Most of mine are IWBs. I had a small crack develop in one at the sweatshield/holster body junction, unnoticed by me-when I'd brought it into Blade-Tech to have a gripper replaced, they noticed it-and immediately made up a new holster for me on the spot.
Whenever I've had a belt loop gripper wear out (which takes years) they immediately replace it, at no charge. Superb customer service, and great holsters.
Best, Jon
Blue or even red loctite on all kydex retention / tension screws.
Yikes! So...you're saying that the blue LocTite that you applied failed?
If you're saying that your holster fell off because the mounting screws loosened, forget it. That's not BladeTech's problem...it's on you for being inattentive to your gear.
It looks like the OP wasn't diligent in maintaining his gear. I'd say this is on him, not Blade-Tech. Here is another reminder to check your gear once in a while. For future reference, blue loctite is your friend. I have a bunch of Blade Tech OWB gear and never had an issue, though I do loctite the screws the day I receive them.
What an excellent time for a reminder of this important forum rule:

OP- As this horse has already left the barn, I will leave this thread open so that you have an opportunity to update us with Blade-Tech's response. I know that you will be dutiful and prompt in doing so.Quote:

I know the rules and I have made contact with the manufacturer, I am currently waiting for them to contact me back in regards to the matter, I was just trying to find out if anyone else has had this issue before regarding bladetech holsters. I did not once bad mouth the quality or integrity of this product i was merely looking for opinions. I merely stated that I was pissed when my $1600 Kimber went sliding across the pavement, as I would imagine most people would be. and yes as soon as I hear what bladetech has to say I will post about what their response is.
No problems with my DOH with Teklok, but this thread has me diligently checking over the holster making sure everything is all set and tightened.
Easy there. It's a reminder for everyone, not an infraction. I posted it because it appeared that you came to the internet for a product failure you immediately blamed the manufacturer for, ahead of contacting them. Your post pointed out a general failure and asked a generic question about the brand as a whole, rather than offering out some specifics of what happened that could be discussed in a meaningful way. In doing so, it opens the floodgates for posts that have nothing to do with your problem, and just disparage the manufacturer.
It's all in the delivery.
My appologies. I didnt mean to come off in the wrong manner. I was just curious if anyone else had any issues with their holsters. My fault or the malfunction of the companies equipement aside I honestly love my bladetech holster. The failure to properly check my gear rather than just rely on it is my own fault. However I am currently awaiting the response from bladetech. Sorry for any confussion.

There's great lesson here regarding all holsters. If the holster employs a retention screw, be it a kydex, leather or hybrid design, the screws NEED to be loc-tited or they will loosen over time. Here's a pic of Blade-Tech holster instructions. Please read #6,

I was contacted by bladetech and they are sending replacement parts and a new holster lug. I have asked them if they can or will do anything about the damage to my firearm, and I am currently waiting for a response. I can understand that not putting the last sentence in their warranty would be a liability on their part. however I would like to clear up some confusion for everyone. I did use red loctite per the instructions that came with my holster. unfortunatley crossing a busy street when this happened did not allow me time to try and find the screws. So unfortunately I am unable to tell if the loctite failed or if the screws snapped. Unfortunately that is their policy, It is kind of upsetting when you get to watch your 1600 dollar Kimber go sliding across the pavement. Thank you guys for your opinions and I will keep you posted about what bladetech has to say in regards to repairing my firearm.
RussB.
When I posted that the screws had backed themselves out, I guess you could say that was an assumption on my part.
I've had several Bladetech holsters, and generally like them. However, I think they have different quality levels. Currently, I have a "Nano" IWB holster for my HK USP40C, and in spite of being spotless inside, my gun feels like its being pushed / pulled through gravel when I insert and/or draw from the Nano. I've cleaned the holster, but it still feels this way. No idea why.
I have a Milt Sparks VMII for my 1911's. Once I tried this holster I basically forsook all others. They're very expensive so I haven't accumulated one for each pattern of handgun I carry, but I will eventually do so.
