Did LASIK surgery work for you and your optic?

Yes you'll likely have night light blooming but I think it's a relatively small price to pay for improved vision elsewhere and lack of dependence on lenses. As far as the red dot sight bloom - it's only a problem if you have it bright. If you have it minimally bright enough to see among the ambient light then it will be sharp. Basically, high contrast situations are the problem.

I haven't noticed any degradation of my night vision, and the halo effect in light sources doesn't affect me, they said that just depends on the person. I was sensitive to light for about a month after, but that too depends on the person. I was advised to wear sunglasses with UV protection, do that anyways though. One of the other posters said the military will disqualify people for a lot of things if they get LASIK over PRK, but Navy medicine doesn't anymore, they allow even aviators to get it now. I believe that goes by service though.

Sobering story. I am sorry to hear about your eye troubles and hope you heal promptly with minimal sequelae. I think I'll keep my corrective lenses (with bifocals) and call it a day.

Best 1k I ever spent.

The vast majority of LASIK "horror" stories derive from people who went cheap and got one the "factory jobs" ... find a local specialist who had done a TON of these procedures.

If you are only paying $1K you are taking your chances, big time.

This procedure ain't cheap, for the really high quality physicians.

Mine was done by a guy here in our area, Jay Pepose, nationally famous actually.

Would do it again in a heartbeat.

Going from my old vision to LASIK corrected was like going from an old fashioned TV to a huge HD television.

I am scared or getting 'cut on' unless it is really necessary. I have minimal faith is most doctors. Eyes are critical

If you are too afraid, LASIK is not for you.

I haven't heard of PRK. Have a consultation appt soon and will inquire about this. I would gladly deal with more pain at outset if it has a better success rate.

PRK is the OLD technique. Do NOT get PRK.

Pay once, cry once.

Do not go CHEAP when it comes to your eyes.

If you do you are a blithering idiot who deserves every bit of suffering and misery your stupidity earns you.

You get what you pay for when it comes to quality LASIK care and procedures.

Trust me. I know this for a fact.

OP, I had LASIK a few years ago & have no issues with any of my RDSs. My EOTech's reticles are all very sharp.
I did initially have starbursts at night & some sensitivity to sunlight, as others have mentioned, but those side effects quickly subsided.
I paid $1k, for the procedure and I'm very pleased with the outcome. It also came with free lifetime enhancements. My vision is still perfect & I haven't needed any enhancements. Along with quitting smoking, it's best thing I ever did for myself.
