This too. That's why I'm a big advocate of mastering irons and having them available as a back-up when the primary goes tits up. On my primary carbine I'm also running a LPV that doesn't rely solely on continuous illumination to function. Preaching to the choir i know.

Eotech is certainly a reasonable option. I'd even admit to being a hair faster with my 552. Many of us still prefer the Aimpoint design and construction for reasons well described in OP's post and multiple previous threads.

Which LPVs are you guys running on your 14-16 in rifles? I've often thought about trying one I just haven't looked through one I liked with the illumination off. The other issue is that 99 percent of the time I end up using this rifle for hunting, and sometimes it gets pretty up close and fast. I'm afraid of losing the quickness of an RDS

I would have drank goats blood to have a LPV in AFG.

8hr shut off or leave it on & change just once a year? I'll leave it on. Aimpoint.

1 power on a quality LPV is damn near as quick as a red dot (we're talking fractions of a second). I have a Trijicon TR24 1-4 on my DD V5 and an Aimpoint T-1 on my V1, I can't tell much of a difference with speed . The main difference is you have a smaller window where your head must be placed to pick up the LPV (eyebox) but with a decent optic you'll have a good eyebox and it's not a real issue IMHO.

I'm running a GRSC 1-6x CRS. IIRC Jack (failure2stop) is running a Mark 6 but I could be wrong. As the previous post mentions, an LPV can be nearly as fast as an RDS/ HWS with practice and training. Mine has a generous eyebox, and eye relief @ 1x is very forgiving. You can easily keep up with guys shooting with a reflex sight, but there are limitations if you find yourself engaging targets in unconventional shooting positions. There's a good selection of good LPVOs currently on the market to meet any budget. Certainly worth considering at least.

Funny thing is some of the best man hunters I know prefer EOTechs and have access to Aimpoints.
