I just found a Leupold LINK explaining different reticles; the SPR starts at page 23, with pics of the reticle starting on page 26, with table 9 showing the holdovers, and table 10 and 11 showing how one uses the SPR reticle for quick ranging. The ranging seems slick but I may be easily amused. As far as the holdovers, it could be more precise obviously but it doesn't seem totally impracticable.

based on what I've read make sure that FFP and suboptimal daylight illumination is OK, if you go with the Mark 6

I've run the FC-2 and a MIL-Dot and greatly appreciate the FC-2 and what it can do if you know how to range with it. I kick myself in the arse daily about converting one of my FC-2 reticles to the MIL-Dot.

The Nightforce 1-4 NXS with FC-2 reticle is a really nice scope. OP if you have the means it would make a great general use optic for that rifle.

P.S. If you don't have the funds, then I would just pick-up a used Leupold low power variable or if you trying out a variable optic for the first time it could still be a viable route to take.

I guess maybe personal preference in regards to how I see the reticle and the way it presents itself on the target.

To my eyes, running at ~1.5x, the reticle seems to really "pop" in contrast with the target.

I really like my 1.25-4x Leupold VX-R on my DD M4 and several people, after shooting the rifle, have bought the same scope. Mounted in a Larue SPR 104 mount. I have not had issues with the dials being moved around.

Not great pics of the reticle as it was just in my basement.

The NXS seems fantastic, a bit heavy for a 1-4x but I bet it is ultra durable..but at that price range I'm thinking I would get into Z6i territory..maybe I can find a used one. NF does have a lifetime warranty. Does anyone know if the warranty is transferable?

Very cool. How did you zero it? I looked at Leupold's SPR reticle explanation (linked in one of my previous responses above) and they list the lower vertical mil marks as working as BDC, 350, 450, 550 meters, with ss109, but I didn't catch the zero that applies to. I just found THIS VXR REVIEW and ccoker zeroed his for 250 yard zero with the first mil mark working as a 500 yard hold. I wonder if I should start another thread on zeros and uses for the SPR reticle.
