Aimpont T1 with Magpul MBUS.
Reasons:
Aimpoint
1. My girlfriend mounted a TA31 ACOG on her SHTF rifle. Although I like the optic and would love to have one, the magnification is actually a hindrance when trying to acquire the target quickly. It's not a "natural pointer" like the Aimpoint in terms of switching from "just seeing" the target to seeing it through the sight. Every time I shoot with her ACOG it takes me longer to acquire the target than it does with my Aimpoint.
2. The Aimpoint is slightly lighter in weight. My M4 with Aimpoint seems more balanced and less bulky than hers with the ACOG, although I have to concede that her MOE handguard with VFG may be more "nose heavy" than my skinny CAR handguards without. I still say my rifle with Aimpoint feels lighter than hers with the ACOG.
Magpul MBUS
1. I gave up on "co-witness" several months ago. The visual clutter of having a non-folding rear sight blocking some of the red dot's field of view was just unacceptable to me. I'll take my chances on having to flip up the BUIS if the Aimpoint goes down.
2. There was a thread on this forum showing that the MBUS is actually a pretty robust sight even when the rifle is dropped right on the unfolded sight. I once thought the MBUS was kind of "Mickey Mouse"--not anymore.
My one beef with the Aimpoint is that it uses batteries. If Aimpoint ever designs a T1 that doesn't need batteries I will be all over it.
Leopold mk4 1.5x5 and off set kac sights on the go to AR. Ta33 on a scar 16 gonna be hard to decide between the two.
Aimpoint Micro on my PWS.....
Leupy . HAMR 4X on my Scar 17s
Very satisfied with both, as they serve the purpose for the (capable)distances.Attachment 23109
EOTech 553 here. Uses the same CR123 batteries as the flashlights on my rifle and in my bag. I've tried to consolidate types of batteries down over the years to a single type as best as I could and this was one of the ones that I switched from AA.
I would say as has been stated that it is the rifle you are grabbing if shit has gone sideways. Agreed on testing, vetting, and making sure it is in order. At least that is mine. However, it is also there to be grabbed for training and range work. it doesn't just sit behind glass in my opinion since I want to grab a rifle that falls into my hands and I know it as an extension of my body. In short, i am a firm believer is training with the gun you are planning on grabbing since every gun has small quirks, the way the triggers break, the point of aim, and feel. I also would state that in the go bag I will have extra small parts, springs, and parts that are know to break as well as at least an extra bolt if not an entire BCG.. Having shot multiple of the same guns side by side and seen them have their own quirks I try to take those out of the equation if I can.

Camping/need to run and hide in the woods rifle has a accu 1-4x

If things really went south, my boys and I would each grab a rifle, 4mags on our belts and small BOBs.
