Since you asked-
I wondered why the Rhodies painted their FALs, the original Black Rifle, the awful colors they did. I asked on a forum where Bush War veterans hang out and was told when they captured any terrs they always interviewed them to get information how to fight them better. When the terrs were asked how they spotted the Rhodesian soldiers, they answered they would almost always first see the black outline of the rifles. So the Rhodies begain painting their rifles using automotive paint, some rifles painted by spraygun but most daubed the paint on with paint brushes or old socks. They used automotive paint because it was cheap and available

When I asked why they used such funky colors, the strange blue green and the baby poop yellow, I was told because they best matched the foliage!

A rare authentic Rhodie Para FAL still wearing much of it's original Baby Poop. Turns out photos of this rifle appear in the book SAS Rhodesia. Rifle is in working condition and is located in South Africa
