Short answer, for carbine and rifle length gas systems, there is only one "spec" as defined by the TDP. Larger is not better because it causes over gassing of the gun which creates a host of other issues.

When did I try to steer someone from Centurion barrels? I said I steer clear from PSA/Spikes. What on earth does my personal taste in barrels have anything to do with trying to get someone else to do what I do? IMO why would I spend money on a Centurion when I can get a BFH BCM barrel for the same price?... or a DD for less?
Ah damn. Duck and cover friend, that's not gonna stand long. ;) Purists and true believers inbound!
I have 1-2 each CHF barrels from Spike's, PSA and BCM. I'm aware that FN is the manufacturer of each of these barrels, and that each manufacturer provides their own blueprint for the barrel, chamber, port size, throat, etc. to get the results they want. That said, the 16" rifles I have all shoot the same - less than 2 MOA with PMC X-Tac. I may not be a good enough shooter to see a differential, but for me, they're excellent, accurate barrels, and 100% reliable over hundreds of rounds, and I am happy to buy any of these barrels that pop up at a good price. I also have similarly excellent, identical results from 2 Daniel Defense CHF barrels as well. For me, there's not reason enough to be brand loyal between these brands, as long as FN made the CHF barrel.
My SS410 barrel is not hammer-forged, and it's a tackdriver. If I didn't love pencil barrels so much, I'd get a lot more of the SS410 barrel. I'm interested in the ELW BHF barrels when they become available, as the unique continuous taper has benefits for harmonics and balance. I could see replacing Spike's and PSA pencil barrels with ELW BHF ones, when they're readily available.
You said it yourself. Because they're not the same.
If someone wanted a CHF barrel with a tapered bore then they would buy the Centurion for the same price. :-)
Lastly, you did say it. I quoted the post where you said it. Again, you said... "I steer clear of Spikes. Definitely steer clear of PSA and Centurion".

Please re-read what I typed. I said I steer clear of spikes, definitely steer clear of PSA, and centurion, meh.
The centurion Meh part, means it's meh for me, and I explained why. If your going to say someone said something, at least paste what they said and not write your own version. Rather than make assumptions, if your confused to why something was said, or don't quite understand how someone worded something just ask.
Anyways, enough off topic. Doesn't need to get into a brand pissing match. Everyone has barrels they like or don't like. This discussion was supposed to be on the double chroming ordeal. I do admit, I myself helped get it off topic, but imo no use further nitpicking over this.
I am genuinely curious what it is that Noveske is doing differently with these FN barrels that say for example Centurion Arms isn't doing? Again, just curious if I am missing something here, not trying to cast internet stones. How does Noveske's use of these FN CHF barrels differ?
Noveske was the first manufacturer in the market to offer a CHF barrel and at the time, they were very different from anything else that was available.
Today, there are several manufacturers sourcing barrels from FN. What separates them is how they are spec'd and what acceptance criteria are required by each manufacturer.
