Yes, they are just standard extensions. The reason the A5 is longer is because the spring and buffer are longer. The A5 is not compatible with those shorter buffer tubes.

Ok I see what youre saying. I was hoping I could use this with the a5 buffer

But I now see that tube is not a a5 tube.
I just wish so much of the a5 tube was not exposed with the the b5 sopmod stock full collapsed. The weight savings is worth it though imo over a stock like the magpul str which covers the a5 tube completely.
Correct. it being long has nothing to do with number of positions. Unless you shoot fully collapsed there is no ill effect of the issue you are having. To my knowledge only longer stocks like the Imod and STR collapse completely on the A5 system.
IraqGunz recently put one on my 6920. It definitely smoothed out the action. I can't say it is more reliable as I never had reliability problems to begin with. However I can say that my rifle flawlessly ran about 350 rounds of Wolf and Herters this week.
Re: Magpul Stocks... Not sure if someone has already mentioned this before or not, but If you take the buttpad off a CTR/MOE commercial stock and use it on a CTR/MOE Milspec stock you can collapse the stock to position 1 on a 7 position A5. I was able to on mine anyway. Hope this helps.
It's really hard to find reasons why to not use the A5 type of system of proper weight and spring in new builds unless there's some reason that the 3/4" longer system can not work when totally collapsed.
