My advice to you is read more post less. I think some of the reasons have already been adequately addressed in this very thread. You can also use the search button and read about all these stupid wonder finishes.

Again, I want something this board used to require - first hand experience, preferably from someone that knows what they are talking about.
All these "stupid wonder finishes" have proven themselves across all kinds of industries in a wide range of applications.
Isn't that kind of a non argument anyways, little confused, aren't most if not all mil spec bolt carriers made from 8620 steel and the bolt itself is what is made from the 158 steel. BCM and Daniels claim 158 steel bolt itself but only mention the testing of their carriers, not material. Spikes states 8620 on the carrier and 158 on the bolt. Has anyone ever had gas key lugs sheer off? Doubt the TiNi coating would help with that and Salient does not advertise what steel they are made out of....
Ive put about 3,500 through it so far, 50% XM855 and 50% XM193, all from Federal. minimal cleaning other than a quick rag wipedown. Think what you may, but im extremely happy. I pulled it directly out of the rifle and took these photos. Im not telling anyone how to spend their money and if you dont want one, simply dont buy one. Anyway, for those interested:
