There are quite a few threads on LWRC rifles if you do a search, and they don't get much love on this site. I don't mind them, but their new rifles use too many proprietary parts and roll pins galore to really appeal to me. Quite frankly they are a bitch to work on and do a detail strip and they share very few common parts with the rest of the industry, which scares me with the pending purchase of LWRC by Colt.
I hear you there, just from looking at it. I haven't had time or effort to strip it down and see what I'm working with. I know they have tried to transform it to its ultimate form but i'm not so sure.. It shoots nice and doesn't get dirty. I'm kinda excited to round up parts for a MK12 MOD1
I bet their customer service it GREAT!
Don't support that fukking Cock Roach company until the whole COLT purchase possibly shakes loose the scumbags that make up that weasel ass operation.
LWRC kidnapped Markm's family.
I've never even held one of their ARs, so I don't know much about them. Hopefully Colt will bring them into line, and I'm glad they're leaving that POS state of Maryland. (the free state--- my ass)
Had no problems with mine, it was great other than heavier than my DI ARs.
id love to own one but im behind the curve on why they are such a black sheep in the community.
I love my new M6IC. Just installed the UCIW stock, a new Magpul K2 PDW grip and KAC URX 3.1 rail panels. The rifle is very accurate with the Aimpoint T1 that I have installed on it and I have never had a failure of any kind.
No problems whatsoever in dealing with LWRCI. Every part that I have ordered, they have charged me for and then sent straight away to me. Never had a problem. The rifle has been perfect and has never had a problem, so I have not contacted LWRCI Customer Service. If there are CS issues, I wouldn't know about them.

I also have a new LWRC SPR, I like it. The rifle is pretty solid and is well made. Since Colt is buying out, it will be my last one. I wanted to get an LMT but the SPR was in stock. Now I will get the LMT next. I am interested in their new quick barrel change model in 556 and 6.8 .
I also have an LMT MRP CQB in 5.56. It's a great rifle but the lack of conversion kits had me looking for something else multi-caliber. The LMT has been given to my daughter. My LWRCI M6IC was purchased to replace the LMT, because I realized that I just didn't need the multi-cal feature in a semi-auto carbine. A Desert Tech SRS-A1 Covert will solve that issue for me. However, if the DT MDR proves to be a winner, my new a IWI Tavor and maybe even the IC, will be sold to help finance that purchase and get me a true multi-cal carbine. Only time will tell. As I get older my plan is to have less of everything, including rifles. My 2-gun plan may become a reality.

How many reformations does this company need? lol
If I was in the market for getting one, I'd wait a couple of years. As far as I'm concerned, there was nothing LWRC has produced that was innovative, ground breaking, or added any additional benefit or significant improvement to the AR design, that wasn't already available, other than to add another roll mark to the market.
The LWRCI M6 is a nice rifle. i have owned several over the last few years in several different versions and they have all gone bang, EVERY time!! I started with a BM and then a Rock River. I started researching and heard about the piston rifles...then I purchased my first piston... a 5.56 made by LWRCI. I have made several changes involving LWRCI rifles but one thing has continued to impress me...utter reliability! Since getting involved with this forum, I have owned a couple newer LWRCI 5.56 rifles but have gotten into Colt and BCM recently. LWRCIs are heavy but run reliably and do not stop running! I currently have a BCM ELW KMR13 upper coming this week and am looking forward to putting it through its paces...! From what I have read, it should not disappoint!!! From my point of view...LWRCI makes a good weapon...take it for what it's worth..."Try it...you'll like it..."
The m6ic line is great. I'll never understand the hate. I think it's 90% inflated, people just jumping on a hate bandwagon. Like a mark larue thread. I bet 99.9% of the people never had any direct experience with him, but he's an a hole according to them in said. thread. And LWRC sucks big time? Just not true. Bottom line it's just an opinion. They build great rifles. Try and hate the new pdw.
Had a m6a2, 09ish produced. It ran like a champ and was a nice looking accurate rifle. In the end it didn't do anything my DI guns didn't and it was heavy....so I sold it
I have an M6 A2 SPR
great little gun and pretty badass looking
very reliable and quite accurate if a bit on the heavy side
a perfect rifle to take out to the range and have some fun
However having recently purchased a 6920 SOCOM 1 it is quite obvious that in a situation where I would need not just a rifle but a true WEAPON it would be the Colt
Hands down ... and it's not even close
For what they are asking for them they don't offer anything special compared to DI's.
I have a M6 IC SPR and I love it. Best rifle I have ever owned. The whole Colt buying LWRC I thought they said that was BS. Has anybody confirmed that because I was pretty sure on LWRC forum they squashed that rumor
how much do these things really sell for? I see $1300 with bids on gb, but actual retailers have $2500 listed.
Since this person is unable to answer any further questions, I'm curious as to what better represents the "tip of the spear" considering Colt weapons see a hell of a lot more combat than anything by LWRC.
Colt sells an M4A1 marked weapon you can buy at any gun shop in a free state. It will hold it's own against LWRC, SCAR's, MR556's, TAVOR's and anything else on the market, and can be had for a few hundred to a thousand dollars cheaper.

My first AR was an LWRC M6A2 I purchased back in November 2007 and I was utterly disappointed. Not knowing anything about AR15's I panicked after Obama got elected and purchased an lwrc at a gunshow after reading a magazine article that raved about them. My rifle was one of the first rifles to come out of their new cambridge md facility with a serialized upper matched to the lower and I had serious issues with it right off the bat. First the rifle was advertised to come with a vltor modstock and a magpul miad grip, but mine came with a moe stock and moe grip which was not the advertised furniture. I found that out after I made the purchase and it seriously pissed me off, but stupidly I didn't do anything about it. The first time I fired the rifle I didn't have any problems, unfortunately that was the last time I didnt have problems. The second time I shot the gun I had failure to extracts on every other round. I emailed lwrc about the issue and they recommended I get a new extractor spring with a black insert and Oring, the stock insert was blue with a weak spring and no oring. I asked them to send me the parts under warranty but they said they didn't have any since most lwrc's don't need the extra power spring so I was forced to buy my own from BCM. The extractor parts fixed the problem but that was only the beginning. Soon afterwards I began having short stroking issues where the gas was so weak it wouldn't cycle the action leaving the fired round in the chamber. I decided the check the "self cleaning" piston out and after unscrewing everything from the rail (required to get to piston) I found the piston spring literally broke in half. I emailed lwrc and they sent me out a new spring of a different design which I guess "fixed" the issue. The next problem I encountered was found during a routine cleaning and inspection. If you don't remember, the older lwrc's came with a two piece bolt carrier that was known to fail. Mine never actually caused a malfunction but during one of my cleanings I found the foward hex bolt worked itself halfway out (not staked). I literally pulled the carrier out to find the head of the bolt sticking about a 1/4 inch above the plane of the carrier where it should of been flush. Pissed off, I called lwrc and demanded one of their new one piece carriers that just came out as a replacement under warranty and they flat out refused. The only thing they offered me was for me to send my carrier to them with my dime and they would retorque and stake the key. Their excuse for not sending me a one piece carrier under warranty was they claimed the original two piece design was reliable and didn't need upgrading (BS!). Not trusting the orginal 2 piece design I purchased a 1 piece carrier upgrade kit ($200) off their website. When I recieved the new carrier I was blown away by the crappiness of the machining and coating. The carrier looked like it was machined by a 5 year old with deep ridges and machine marks all over the carrier. The nickel boron coating was terrible and had sections where it didn't even look like it was coated, like inside the carrier where a normal DI carrier would be chome lined. I even made a post about it on their forum and a lot of other people came foward saying they had the same issue's with thier carriers that I did. That topic was deleted soon after people started bashing lwrc for selling such crappy product. Pissed off again I called lwrc and demanded a replacement, they in turn asked for pictures. After sending them pictures they replied saying the machining and coating was on my carrier was normal and did not affect function, more BS! Soon after all the required "reliability" upgrades to my $2500 rifle, I began having short stroking issues again. I decided to check the piston again as I suspected I had broken another spring. After unbolting everything from the rail and taking the top half off (which btw is the most ****ing stupidest design ever) what I found was far worse than a broken spring. My gas block was cracked. Yup, after less than 1000 rounds my gas block cracked. Royally pissed off at this point I sent the upper back to lwrc (I had to pay for shipping) and demanded a new upper because I deemed it a lemon and did not trust the rifle anymore. After 2 month's what I got back was my old upper(same serial # and worn) with what was I think a new barrel and a new gas block of a completely different design. I promptly sold the rifle at a huge loss with full disclosure and decided I would never buy a LWRCI product again.
What irked me the most about the situation is that LWRCI used thier customers as guniea pigs for R&D, and I unfortunatly was a victim. If you look at their current designs they have changed significantly from their older designs with different gas blocks, 1 piece carriers, and now completely different spring and piston designs with their newer rails. Why were there so many changes to the design over the years if the original design was supposed to be "reliable"? LWRC marketed their product as a superior design that was more reliable than legacy DI weapons. What I got was a $2700 paper weight with shit customer service and horrible engineering. To this day I truly believe that trying to reengineer the legacy DI gun to accept a piston is a bad idea. Pistons in guns designed with a piston are great weapons ( SCAR, AK47, Sig 550, etc), but trying engineer an AR to accept a piston is just retarded in my book.
In lwrc's defense, their newer designs look to be fully evolved. All the reports I've read about the newer guns have been positive with superior fit and finish and none of the problems that I experienced. I've picked up and handled a lot of their newer guns and they look a lot better than the gun I purchased(carriers look much better machined now). For me though I will never buy another nor recommend an LWRC to anyone. Personal experience has taught me better. I now run BCM carbines exclusively and I couldn't be happier.
Young and dumb, live and learn.
Doesn't everyone love the "I just bought XXX and Love it, So what do you think" threads? I mean what do you expect to gauge? Others justification for your purchase? Reinforce your purchase while suppressing buyers remorse?
These threads are almost as enlightening as "I have 30 rounds through my XD, best pistol ever and I trust my life to it" and "My LWRC has never had a malfunction, so They all are perfect" threads.
To be fair, he said "'tip of the spear' in design", which completely changes the meaning. They are not cutting edge, colts have been very similar to the original design for the past 50-60 years. My answer would be the 901. The current ar-15 platform is not going to improve that much. Sure new materials, slight changes here and there... like the KAC. Its really just an ar-15 with some mods. The 901 REALLY has a bit to offer IMO. Colt came up with a redesign of something that actually makes a difference, and did it very well... unlike the 50 16" barreled piston systems out there. Outside of some niche applications with which I have no experience with... I see no attraction to pistons. Sure there may be theoretical advantages, but I live in realville.
apparently I s-s-s-s-stutter when I post... Double tap.
