Has one of those silly (in my opinion at least) extra long pinned on flash hiders to bring it to an overall length of 16" and apparently will be roll marked something like "m4 commando". No pictures but here is a video, skip to about 3:40.

It is retarded. A perfect opportunity for a factory SBR, squandered. I wonder how many people will buy it for the rollmark then either switch out the barrel or sell the upper.
What the f***ing f***?!
Is Colt becoming Bushmaster?!
The only "Colt Commando" I will recognize is a 6933.
If the FH is just pinned, then why not:
1. Buy it
2. Register it as an SBR
3. Have it unpinned
?
It would be cool if Colt brought back the N1 stocks to go with it.
All I can say is thank God BCM exists.
Yep. I agree. Would be nice if they did it like the 6700C or whatever model during the 94 ban.... where the break would just eventually fall off.
I don't think that gun is too bad. Put an old school aluminum CAR-15 stock on it and change the upper receiver to an old A1 upper with carry handle A1 rear sight.
Exactly. This roll mark should be on the 6933
I am going to buy one and change the barrel so I can have a proper 6933
Colt will never be able to do shit right when it comes to this stuff. You have a company located in a communist state with a pool of east coast employees who are not "gun people" and have no clue what they are doing. They will never "get it"
Regardless of how practical or tacticool it is, it doesn't look like we will ever see this model.
It was first shown off at SHOT last year as part of a slew new ARs that Colt planned to release as part of their "50 years of the M16" celebration. It was included in their 2013 product catalog and MSRP list as well. However, The Great Firearms Panic of 2013© hit shortly after and seems to have killed off nearly all the new models that were shown at SHOT. The only one that actually made it to market was the AR15-A4, which really was the only model that anyone showed any interest in in the first place.
I thought the LE CAR was French

GrabaGun had these in stock a few weeks ago...oh wait, they are in stock now.

There are two listings on gunbroker now.
Hmm, I thought for sure that Colt had killed this model off before production since it's not listed in their 2014 catalog or MSRP sheet.
Is there really that much interest in a car clone to make one from the factory? Doubt it....
From the GrabaGun listing:
"•Barrel features factory-installed 5.5" pinned & welded flash hider"... no mention of TIG, MIG, SIG, JIG, CIG, etc. welding type.
The roll marks in the stock photos look great. I like how the Harford pony is centered, same as the fullauto guns. Why they didn't do this on the 6933 is absolutely beyond me. The AR6720LECAR is an absolutely ridiculous configuration.
Hopefully those roll marks make it onto the factory SBR lineup.
Colt continues to make 6721s.
If they had been making what people wanted, BCM, DD, and LWRC wouldn't exists. Colt would not have had to buy LWRC.
I think he was being facetious, just stating when colt does something, they go all out. I think it's silly, and looks sillier. If you really want an SBR and are impatient, just grab the short barrel and keep it in the safe until your stamp comes, then take the 15 minutes to swap barrels. You can always keep the perfectly good 16" barrel or sell it. However pinning in general is a little silly to me, unless you're in a commie state that makes you pin regardless of length.
However, regardless of your feelings, no matter how true they may be, there probably is a bigger consumer base in the mall ninja vs. people who view these as tools. If it's true (I haven't really read into it at all) about Colt losing contracts, you may see a lot more catering to the mall ninja to keep the $ coming in at a level they like.
Until recently, Colt really hasn't had to evolve or market themselves to the civilian market for quite some time. I trust that they will get their act together sooner than later.
What Colt does: Comes out with this Garbage
What Colt should have done: Come out with a XM177E2 Clone with a fake moderator pinned. That way people who want to make the clone can unpin, throw the NFA item on there and be happy. Lightweight, easy to point and reliable with a A1 upper.
I like this, its true, Colt reminds me of Glock; great product but not subject to much, if any change. Look at how Springfield Xd's and Smith M&P's took a huge chunk out of their market. For the money Colt makes the best AR for around a grand but after that people want other options that Colt just can't deliver
Colt makes a couple of different factory SBR's.

And Colt sells SBR uppers including a proper 10.3" MK18 upper through some retailers.
