HudsonLion, first we need to define the term "duty". My idea of duty carry is for uniform police duty in an open duty style holster, as in a Safariland 6390, which is what I use. As stated by jhurt, a duty pistol is carried on all weather conditions. There is a reason the military carried the 1911 in a flap holster, to protect it from all the dirt and debris that gets into the action of a pistol designed to be carried cocked and locked.
Next we need to address ammunition. Duty ammo would generally be hollowpoints, always an issue of concern with the 1911 platform.
Third is the magazines. Duty mags are carried loaded for weeks, sometimes months at a time, also exposed to the elements, not stored empty in a shooting bag.
A duty pistol has to work under these conditions, all the time, not just on range trips, when the pistol is clean, shooting ball ammo.
I'm not saying you Ruger is not a great pistol, what I'm saying is the protocol you are using to say your Ruger is "duty" ready is not valid, for the reasons I have stated. Good luck, and enjoy your journey of the 1911.
