This. Due to vision issues or personal tastes some people prefer magnified optics. I am one of them. A 1X4 or 1X6 scope would be a better choice than a 5X magnifier. IMHO.

You have got to be kidding. Without knowing his vision, or what he is doing, or why he wants magnification, how can you possibly make a comment like that? You are better than that, I think you were looking at things from your own point of view and context with this one.
Is the weight that noticeable?

I have never used a magnifier, but as I get older I have began to notice them. I have a couple of long barrel/scoped AR's for distances beyond vision limitations. I have been on the fence about the magnifiers for about a year now. If you get one, let me know how you like it and the weight it adds.
A PRO and magnifier for 300 yard hunting??? Your kidding right?? Have you shot the rifle with the PRO. Why would you put an RDS on a 308? Shoot a 100 yard group and post picture. If you are good you may get a 3 inch group using an improvised rest. Multiply that times 4 in real world conditions at 300 yards. You need a scope! GH
The Pro has roughly 2" dot at 100 yards and so on. I am curious how it will work at longer ranges.
