In a pickle with trying to install free float rail, need opinions
I have a Norinco CQA and my gunsmith can't tap out the pins to remove the FSP. I'm wondering if I should shave the FSP so I can get the free float rail installed. My reservation with going this route is that there's no turning back. The stock forend is carbine length and I feel that it is a bit short. I wanted a quad rail installed so I can mount accessories easier and got a 12 inch rail. Another option is to just go with a drop in carbine length quad rail but im worried that I won't be able to achieve an ideal grip as I hear its better to have the support hand further out. Im a new AR owner so im still learning but I want to start with the most ideal set up right off the bat. Do you guys think I would regret shaving the FSP and just compromise and get acarbine length drop in quad rail or should I just go for it and shave it off? My gunsmith offered a used MOE forend but im worried that it might be too bulky.
