Hypothetical 1 gun and 3 different optics ?

There obviously isn't one gun for every situation, but you may be able to balance one gun and three optics to cover or come as close to all situations.

Remember filling that duffle bag, what do you choose and why? Space and perhaps budget is limited. Taking in account 3 Rifles and 3 optics may be unobtainable, think one rifle and three optics to make it as general purpose multi role as possible.

I gotcha - this is a "you have to play by these rules" hypothetical thing. I thought you were brainstorming how to spend your actual money.

Given that:

AR w a free-floated 16" med contour bbl, 223 Wylde chamber, Mid gas, 1/8 twist, and short can.
Optic 1: Swarovski Z6i BRT (will do everything from contact to 600).
Optic 2: Bushnell DMR 3.5-21x50 w Horus H59. (100 - 1,000)
Optic 3: Sorry, can't do it - don't need a 3rd. I'd get a quality laser/range finder.

Mounts: ADM or Alamo 4 Star.

Bobro mounts for all three. A quality 1-8 or 1-10 scope. A quality 3-15 or 3-18 scope. A quality red dot.

Are you willing to get into the NFA world? What are you willing to spend on base firearm? How much are you willing to invest to gain proficiency at mid to long range? What tasks do you want to prioritize?

Tavor or 14.5" AR with:
red dot
1-6 variable
gen IV night vision or FLIR

Back in the reality world I settle for a AR Sbr with 10.5" and 14.5" uppers a red dot and a 1-4 variable.

Assuming I can only have 1 rifle, I'll take a 14.5 with Aimpoint T-1 on 1/3 lower cowitnes QD mount, Leupy Mk6 1-6 & an Aimpoint T-1/H-1 on a LaRue 30 degree offset mount (for when I run the 1-6, so I always have instant 1x by simply canting the rifle)... So there you have it 3 optics but only 2 set ups necessary.

Well that is why I asked for three optics. One gun that has the most capability in most situations, not perfect, just very versitile.
Three optics, each with it's own specific strengths to wrong every bit of that rifles versitility out to the maximum.

Quality build AR in 5.56
1 Quality RDS (Aimpoint, EoTech) for CQB/Home
1 Quality 1-4 or 1-6 Variable for Defensive or inside 100 hunting/etc.
1 Quality 3-15 or 3-18 scope for varmints and longer range hunting.

If you're needs are only 200 yards and in, like 99% of the world, then a quality 1-4 is all you need. One optic.
