For a 14.5 middy.
Start with a standard carbine spring and a H buffer, this is basically the base setup.
BTW the way there are more then a few threads dedicated to spring and buffer combos
Noveske upper, no suppressor, ammo will be primarily affordable stuff
I agree... Not sure what Noveske's port size is, but an H buffer is a good starting point.
I have a Colt H buffer and a Colt buffer spring already so really I just wanted to see if there was a better combo to put in this other than what I have laying around. Thanks.
Also please explain blue CS Spring?
Isnt there like 5,000 posts on this???
Is the VLTOR A5 worth looking into
Yes, but you'll need the A5 tube in addition to a new spring and buffer.
So I should change at least one or the other of the H buffer and spring?
Yes, the Colt H buffer and spring generally are good to go.
If you WANTED to get another buffer, the Noveske should run fine with an H2.
Yep. I have a 14.5 middy with an .080" port that will run Herters steel cased like champ. Cycles like an A2 rifle....
So if the Noveske is in that area, it might like an H2 as well.
Remember the Noveske barrel in the BCM thread? I dont recall the exact number or if it was a fluke but that port was large.
My upper has a fsb if that makes a differences here is the exact upper I own. Sorry this is the only spec link I could find for it. https://dsgarms.com/nvu-g3-lcfsr-556
Side note that buffer and spring is in another gun i was going to take it out but decided against it so I'll be buying both the spring and buffer. Thanks for all the input this far really appreciate it.
I recently switched from a regular carbine buffer to an H for my BCM SS410 16" and didn't notice any difference. I'd heard that it would soften perceived recoil, but I never really noticed the recoil to begin with, so it's hard to quantify any difference.
Everything had been working well with the carbine buffer, but I kept reading about how I should upgrade, so I succumbed to peer pressure, and did. Still, I suppose it can't hurt since H is what BCM puts in their complete middy rifles.
Everything for the noveske is done minus buffer/spring. (This is why I am entertaining the thought of the vltor a5)
The host carbine was an affordable build with miscellaneous parts and a carbine gas system.
Ok thanks next question is there anything I need to know about the a5 system and best place to pick it up
On my BCM 14.5 mid I run a H buffer with a standard spring. Mine ejects properly and eats everything. Nothing fancy and very happy with the results.
