BCG mostly all you need make an old Bushmaster trustworthy?
I've got a older Bushmaster I bought in 1994. I've shot, maybe, 1500 rounds in the last 20 years or so, with no problems. Since reading and searching this site it seems to be an untrustworthy brand to many here. Maybe not the old ones as much, but it does seem like AR's have gotten better since I bought this.
My question is would replacing the BCG with a top notch one (like Bravo) alleviate most of the problems associated with a lesser rifle? After searching this site it seems that most of the problems are bolt and bolt carrier based. If not, what else would you do?
I'm obviously a casual shooter but I would love to take it to an Appleseed shoot or basic rifle class in the next year or so. I also theoretically would like the idea being able to use it for defense. Even though, my shotgun would almost always be what I would use for home defense.
Oh and I'm new, I figured this was the best place to figure out if all I'm doing is polishing a turd.
