Anyone here used a can on their elw barrels? Tried doing research and couldn't find anything on it.
How is the accuracy? Is there a ton of POI shift?

I don't have one, and this is more of a clarification question - what sort of can are you looking at running?
If I wanted a handy suppressed setup, I wouldn't hesitate to look at an ELW/KMR upper and a Trek-T; but hanging an SDN-7.62 off a 16" ELW one isn't going to produce fantastic precision. It's more of a case where tailoring the host to the can is more logical than trying to match a can to a host.
Understandable.
Looking at getting a specwar/saker or some other semi affordable can in the distant future. Probably going to be about a year before I can afford one, then knowing the ATF another 40 years for the damn paper work.

I believe markm used a can on his ELW barrel?
I have a 14.5 ELW suppressed. See my last post here.. https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread...ghtweight-SBRs. Anything specific you looking for. Im pretty sure it was Pappabears?? and Markm and him were shooting it.. You can PM me also.
Here is Pappabears and Markm results.. https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread...els-14-5/page3
Just ordered a 16" elw and gas block. Now I'm broke again! Woo-hoo!
Bcm is pretty damn good at draining a person lol

Just made it out to the range and I got a pic of a target shot with my 14.5" ELW-F upper with and without a Surefire 212. The shots with lines through them are without the suppressor and the others are with. Pardon my crappy shooting skills.

P.S. OnTarget says the first group is 3.5 MOA and the second is 2.3. I'll take it with crappy Federal bulk pack.
Thanks for the picture. Doesn't seem to be any appreciable shift. Not near as bad as I thought it would be.

Thanks bud! It's still a year or two down the road before I get one. Saving up for a can now. Then I'll have to wait about 3 centuries for the ATF to do their end. Lol

You will not have any regrets once all of the tedious waiting is over.
That's what I've heard/read. Also need to decide on what can to get. Looking at the saker or specwar, m4 2000, and if I sold my soul a socom556 rc.

I love my surefire, but for the price and quality I would go for the specwar.
That's what I was leaning towards. I could just about buy 2 specwars plus stamp for one of the surefires!

Seriously, on top of the price they're durable and quiet, but heavy.
19.5 ozs is what they list for specwar. Not as heavy as a yhm! But bit as light as a surefire.

2.5ozs doesn't seem like that big of a difference from the surefire. Either way its a good sized chunk of metal hanging off your barrel. It is very noticeable, light weight or not.
I agree. Not too much more in weight and about 3/4 inch longer or more. Big honkin chunk at the muzzle!

Good luck on the choice you make it will be very fun once it is all said and done.
Much obliged! Hopefully I'll have my barrel and gas block on Tuesday. Then have it and my kmr 13 installed. Then the saving game begins!

Our ELW test thread was linked above... so... If I were looking to suppress ANY AR... let alone an ELW, I'd be looking at one of the MINI cans... AAC or one of the others.
The mini cans are quieter at the ejection port and have less back pressure. More enjoyable all around.
I've only shot the AAC mini 4. I wish I could say I'd shot a 30 cal mini can on an AR, but I've not. I'd without hesitation run a Mini 4. But it depends... if you want to be able to run it on a 30 cal too?
Not that I'm planning. Just have my ar and a Xdm 45. If I do end up getting a 30 cal one day then I'll get a dedicated can for it

I'd like to install a silencerco specwar 5.56 on my ELW but I'm Hesitant.
I'm wondering if I should switch to a noveske barrel since I'll be getting this rifle pretty hot in classes.
I'm not sure how much the POI shift is on the ELW when it is hot.
