I used magpul mags with good results.
Have you considered colt 20 rounders with a wooden block inside?
Magpul PMAG 10s. I keep them for hunting or range trips when I'm stationed in Kalifornia.
These lancer L5 are excellent.

Define "best"?
D&H teflon coated 10-rounders w/ the Magpul follower can be found online for $5.99-$7.99 per and I reckon that's the "best bang for you buck".
Obviously, Magpul & Lancer make credible 10-rounders as well.

The 10 round lancer L5AWM ain't that good. It wont seat on a closed bolt fully loaded, while the magpul, d&h, and c products magazines can.
I have used the Lancer L5 and Magpul PMAG 10 quite a bit since being moved to CA. I did have to apply quite a bit of force to the L5AWM to get it to lock on a closed bolt (but it did lock). The PMAG 10s do not have this issue at all (All BCM uppers with BCM BCG). All have functioned without error through some unknown number of rounds (estimate 1500 shots or so in a variety of conditions from dusty to wet).
Lancer is very conservative with their design to prevent an extra round from being inserted on an open bolt. They have instructions posted explaining how to trim the bottom of the follower to make the mag easier to insert on a closed bolt. Try a search or call Lancer directly.
Where do you folks buy your Magpul magazines? Thanks...
Wherever there's a decent price.
Midway has 'em for $13.
He posted his experience, and you called him a troll, I'm guessing because it didn't mirror your experience. That isn't trolling, that is called "differing opinions."
If you don't want to see my posts or his, add us to your ignore list. You've made your way to mine.
I like Magpul PMAG 10 and Troy Battlemags, the one's that look like 30 rds but are 10rds. Even though they only hold 10 rds, at least they look right in the gun.
NYH1.
I can't say enough about Magpul and their products, their Pmags are top notch.
I'm lucky that I can buy mine at the LGS here in JAX for a better price than the internet.
owner of six 10 rounders because of CA law. love em all and performs well. been eying lancer mags too because of postive responses.
Shooters has been running a sale on their Pmags for a few weeks now.
They have the 40 rnd for $19, 30 rnd for $11 and if I remember correctly all the others on the rack were in the $14 range.
The Magpul Store has the 10 rnd mags for $13.95 http://store.magpul.com/product/MAG559/PMAG
On a side note something to keep in mind is that Magpul will be discontinuing all colors but black at the end of the year.
Here is an older post regarding L5AWM magazines and seating on a closed bolt.

It seems Lancer originally designed the 30 round to not be able to hold 31 rounds in order to meet a mil spec.
Out of curiosity, I did some testing with various magazines to see how easily they would seat on a closed bolt.
Tested:
USGI (NHMTG) 30 rd w/magpul follower
USGI (NHMTG) 20 rd
Magpul M3 30 rd
Lancer L5AWM 30 Rd blk
Lancer L5AWM 20 Rd blk
Lancer L5AWM 10 Rd blk
All but the Lancer 10 round would seat on a closed bolt using reasonable force.
All of those would also allow loading of 1 extra round (31,21 etc. )
Once the extra round was loaded, there was no "give" in the stack. It was dead full.
I removed .100" from the height of the follower stop on the 10 round L5.
It was then able to hold 11 rounds and was able to be seated easily on a closed bolt when loaded to 10 rounds.
The Lancer 20 and 30 round magazines must have had running changes made that allow the extra space for an additional round and easy seating on a closed bolt.
It seems that in order for a magazine to seat easily on a closed bolt, it must also be able to hold an extra round.
Put another way, a magazine doesn't hold an extra round, it won't seat easily when loaded to rated capacity.
In general, I'd say that seating on a closed bolt when loaded to rated capacity is the more important requirement.
In certain cases, such as when complying with hunting regulations or commie state capacity limits, the ability to NOT be loaded above rated capacity will be the more important requirement.
Got my Magpuls today from Midway. Great price; very nice quality, easy loading. Thanks for the advice...

I have 4 C-Products 10s that have been 100% so far.

I use Stoner 10 round mags summer and winter here in AK with no complaints. I don't know about the BEST, but I'll buy more.
D&H Industries also makes aluminum 10 round mags which work very well and sit more flush in the lower than the Magpul 10 rounders.
Ive used a D&H black Teflon 10 rounder for a couple years now. Been 100% reliable with many different loads/bullet types.
And I generally buy all my AR mags from 44MAG.com. they ship Magpuls for free, and have many different styles of mags to choose from.
