Too bad they couldn't open up the lower dimension a bit to accomdate the FSB bottom lug like they did with the Lite Rail I, II, OmegaX, and RIS II rails.

If they did, the lug would protrude so much that it would stick out. That's why the rails you mentioned, with the exception of the RIS II, have a profile similar to an I-beam.
The RIS II has a height of 2.23" and has to have cutouts. The SLiM rail has a height of 2.09", so you can see the problem here...
There's a reason why DD uses their own proprietary FSB, and this is one of them.
I think DD will eventually release an FSB version of the Lite III and the SLiM rail, but I think they will require significant modification of the FSB in order to work.
Does the 9.9oz weight of the 12" DD SLiM rail include All the mounting accessories?
Or is 9.9oz only for the rail itself?
A rep from DD Tech Support said "The stated weight covers all, rail , nut and hardware. Hope this helps!"
I asked about the 9.9oz weight on the product page on the DD site. I expexted it to not include the mounting hardware. Now I'm regreting my MK18 RIS II purchase, guess I have to start saving all over again. It's just a matter of time before there's a 9 or 10" slim rail.
