Floating Barrel, 30-06, action sitting on aluminum towers and glass bedded. All that and nice walnut. Reach out and touch someone in style.

Mounted up my Ching Sling from Langlois today, so it's getting more tacitical-er.
This reminds me of one of those I once had and let get away from me. It was a Remington 700RS (synthetic stock, 22" sporter weight barrel with iron sights) in .30-06. IIRC, I had some kind of mid/upper-end Tasco 3-9 scope on it and with handloaded 150 grain Nosler Ballistic Tips (I think I was using IMR 4064), it would clover leaf 3 shots at 100. It was light and handy, and I took a few Whitetails with it in NY. The Nosler BTs were explosive out of the '06 and would drop 'em right on the spot.
Probably the only thing to watch for is if the wood stock moves/swells/shrinks with temperature and moisture.
Edit - for a lightweight build (and something suitable for the Randy Cain course), here is an optic worth a look;
