My ejector has failed, and I'm having a helluva time fixing it...
This was a complete bolt from a well-regarded board sponsor (I'm looking at their ad while I type this), with only 1,000 or so rounds on it. I say this not to impune anybody, but just so that you know the situation.
Initial symptoms were more and more frequent failures to eject. The ejector isn't sticking out of the bolt face as far as it should (compared to another, fully funtional bolt), and it's noticeably mushy compared to my other (fully functional) bolt.
I tried the usual method of depressing the ejector with a spent cartridge casing and driving the roll pin out, but that didn't work. I gently clamped the bolt and case in my vice, so that the ejector was fully depressed, but the pin is stuck fast. A couple solid whacks with a hammer only broke off the tip of my HF 1/16" round punch.
I'm becoming more and more frustrated. I figure the ejector and/or ejector spring have failed totally and are jamming the pin.
I'm on the verge of doing something radical, like drilling out the roll pin.
Please advise...
