If you can get ahold of a Colt Rail Gun you might give it a serious look. I love mine. Only things I have done are change the ambi safety to a standard thumb safety, add new MSH w/ magwell and add a 10-8 flat trigger

The nice lady who took my order told me it could be as much as 36 months. I'm taking her word for it and settling down for a long wait. No problem. It will be an excellent pistol when it gets here, and I have my TRP shoot until then.
Sounds right for a custom shop gun, though not for the professional model that was in question. The latest shipments of pros were about 28 months. My pro took 25 months, and monadh has only been on order for 4 months now, so it may well be 36 months as the wait for pros keeps going up not down.
Op,
Sorry to hear about your issues with your DW. Great guns and great CS the last time I used them in '09. My DW CBOB is one of my carry favorites.
I do have a Springer TRP Op that is my other duty gun. I like the fact that the TRP Ops come with the front strap checkering over the non checkered frames. It does also have a bushingless barrel. I did swap out the adjustable rear of for a 10-8 non adjustable version. The gun is all stock beyond that (except for the grips).
The gun has all the things you are looking for and now is well within your budget.
Update: I've had the gun back from DW for a little over a week now. I took it to a local smith and we re-loctitied using green loctite on it and applied it with a needle around the sight dovetail. I'll be taking it out this weekend to see if that works and solves my problem. If not we'll be re-sighting in the gun and then having a small hole drilled for the set screw to actually go into to hold it all in place.
The 36 month wait is nothing compared to receiving a damn near flawless work of art. I bought a railed professional and I have never looked at another 1911 with the same lust I do every time I open my bedside drawer and see her sitting there. I only take her out to the range when I want to show some friends what real guns shoot like.....
If it was 290 "wicking" loctite you may need to give it quite a bit of time to dry as it's very wet and thin. For a duty gun I would suggest marking the sight for perfect poa/poi, removing it cleaning thoroughly and then gluing it in with something more substantial if dealing with an oversize dovetail. Loctite 262 would be my first choice. Dawson precision suggests it for their installs.
It was 290. The gun has been sitting for a little over a week and I had the sight previously marked for POA/POI. I should be able to take it to the range at work tonight and see how it goes.
