F-marked FSBs are not spec'ed for A4 rifles. The sight radius is long enough that the slightly higher sight plane isn't a problem like it is on carbine length flat tops.
I have read, on multiple occasions, that M16A4's are produced with F marked FSBs. Are you certain about your comment? Why was there such an uproar when Colt began shipping the AR15a4 sans F marked FSB? Grant has gone out of his way to offer batches of A4s w F marked FSBs. I understand that the rifle will still zero with irons etc, but Im pretty sure the A4 should come with a F marked FSB.
I agree, all is well. You may want to replace the hand guard with an aftermarket such as Magpul anyway. http://store.magpul.com/category/184 Lots of people do. They don't cost much and they offer many advantages.
Exactly...the fact that it will zero isn't the point. It's not to spec. Half the reason I want to own one of these is because it's as close to a quality m16a4 as I can get as a civilian. Not including an f marked fsb on all ar15a4's that went out the door was a pitiful (and uncharacteristic) oversight on colts part. I'm a big colt fan, btw! Thanks to grant for hooking us up w the f marked fsb option. The rifle will zero, but the m16a4 has f marked fsb.
Colt dropped the ball on this once again.
1. It has no F marked FSB
2. It has M4 feedramps which nobody asked for
3. It has a lame roll mark.
I just received a new Colt 6720 and it does not have the F marked FSB.
