Just an update, the rifle runs 100% with the H3 buffer, both with and without the suppressor, shooting Federal XM193 ammo.
Outstanding. Thank you for the update.

It makes me wonder if I should be running a heavier buffer in my 16" CAR length rifle as well.

Depends who makes it/what the port size is. H2 min, H3 even better probably.

It's a Colt 6920, with the standard CAR spring and H buffer it came with. It's been 100% reliable.

H2 would be optimal in that gun. H2 is the default buffer in a correctly gassed gun.
(I know Colt ships these with the H buffer... but that's really to allow for a wider variety of ammos to function reliably.)

How would switching to an H2 buffer with the standard spring compare to the H buffer with either a Sprinco blue or red spring?

An H2 or H3 with a Springco WHITE would be smoother in terms of overall gun movement than the gun running a Springco BLUE. Small, but noticeable difference.
