Just modified my first AR by putting on a float tube and of courses that required a new low profile gas block. The one I bought turned out to be aluminum. Is this going to present a problem in the future?
Thanks for looking, Lead Foot

Who produces said aluminum gas block? Personally, I would not use an aluminum gas block since it will expand and contract very differently than the steel barrel. Admittedly, I'm not basing this on any in-depth knowledge or research.
There is a variety of well regarded carbon steel and stainless blocks available that I would use instead.
I just used one of these when I was completing the same project. I'm very happy with the results.

If you use an aluminum gas block you can expect a lot of issues.
Thanks for the info. I will go to my local supplier and pick one up. I posted this question on AR15 and the same suggestions came back so I will also attempt to make the original gas block to work, cut it back, and if it works, keep it for a spare until the aluminum one fails. May just change it by Monday night if I can.
Thanks again, Lead Foot
I will be shaving the fsb and replacing the aluminum one.
Thanks again. Like all the shooting sports, there are no better people to be around. The only structured shooting I do is CAS/SASS. I love to shoot real black through my cartridge guns. A real blast for sure. Learning and shoot an AR and learning all the new items about this weapon system is great.
