I much prefer the "For Civilian Use Only" marked rifles.
Whichever is cheaper.
No. Do not pay the extra money for the restricted writing.

Why pay the extra money for verbiage? I can put it to better use elsewhere.
Hasn't this been discussed a bunch of times already?
NO !
I have a Colt LE6920 with the "restricted " roll mark .
The only reason I bought it is that it was available at a
decent price back when we thought a ban was coming
and it was hard to find anything .
If I could get a good trade for it I would get rid of it .
State and local cops don't know the laws about these
and it can get you attention you don't want .
I'd pay less for the oppressive anti 2A markings.
I'd pay extra for: "Restricted: For Civilian/FREEFOR Use Only."
The cheaper of the two. Being as that there is zero mechanical difference between the two, there is no reason whatsoever to pay extra for the rollmark. Although, at one time that was sort of "en vogue" to do so.
My preference;) . . .

....
I would not pay more for it. I happen to have one of the restricted marked LMT lowers; it happened to be available at a time when there was talk of a new state ban.
I don't hate the marking, but I can care less if it's there.
Does anyone know if LMT uses these markings for actual gov/le rifles, or is it just purely for show?
I know that they are in fact not restricted, but what I want to know is if this an actual marking intended for lowers going out to LE.
We just received a fresh batch of LE6920's if interested. ;-)

I have an old 6920 back when you had to send in letterhead.
And I have another plain AR. The markings really do nothing but inspire fat weirdos at the range to question the 'legality' of your rifle or some kid fresh out of the academy "demanding" to know how you got a 'Cop M4'.
Or the buzzcut Tackleberry doing a "Terry Inventory" "for your safety and mine" during a DUI/Seatbelt/papers please checkpoint seeing the words RESTRICTED LE/MILITARY/EXPORT USE ONLY....
That blasted engraving has inspired so much stupidity out of what should be right-thinking, educated people who probably know better but somehow don't.
Back inna day it was pretty much a status symbol that you had a brand spanking new Colt. Now anyone can get one and will pay extra. To me, it is a relic of a hopefully bygone time of the Federal ban where somehow a department sign off made you "more equal" enough to enjoy the simple pleasure of a collapsible stock, bayo lug, and flash hider.
If you found a marked one in new condition for the same as a stock 6920, have at it. But paying 400 more for some stupid words would be woefully lame.
FWIW, I'd never part with mine just because I've had it forever and it shoots how I like it to shoot.
I have had my "restricted" rollmark Colt since 2005 when there really wasn't much of an option for anything else for a 6920. At least in my neck of the woods.
Not to be a dick, but maybe find a new range? Or flip the gun over to the unmarked side, put it in case when not used, or my personal favorite strategy, tell the nosy neighbor to mind his (or her) own you-know-what business? I have never had anyone question me about my gun. Ever. Here or the libtard states next to me when it has gone with me to the range or for training.
OP; to answer your question, not worth the money or necessary with the same non-marked lower readily available these days.
I don't live in a 'liberal' state but still...
If I go to the work range it is rare as my schedule is prohibitive and bleh.
So I go to a public range which seems to attract more than a few propellerheads. While I'm not anti-social, I don't like talking to other people during my moment of zen. That's why when I take out the ECC or HK91; I call ahead and arrange as private a bay possible because I just don't feel like the questions.
Another topic for another day but the thesis is that people lose their brains over magical words on a lower.
Why is this really even a topic?
Because there are still people out there that think these things are somehow special. i had a buddy recently get a 6920 and he was talking about what a special rifle it was like the "M4" stamped on the lower actually meant something. i wanted to kick him in the nuts, be he gets butthurt when you try to educate him contrary to what is posted on TOS, cause they are experts or something.
its quite sad.
Restricted markings currently demand a higher value (and I predict this will not change). It's simply supply and demand, whether you agree or not.
Colt rifles have come down in price, and more can afford them. And it seems as if recent production Colt rifles have more QA/QC issues than 9-10 years ago.
Yup, most recently a month ago:

I, too, would like not just one, but several substantiated and independent examples of Colt having any worse QC than x amount of years ago. I've heard this spiel forever. I recall getting my 6920 and having to go to another FFL because in my naivete, I tried the big gunstore first (a place I never shop at now) and they refused the transfer because A. It wasn't "fair" I could get a 6920 and B. "Colt's a POS anyways. I'd rather use Panther Arms. Colt doesn't support shooters".
It's the same tired talk I've read on forums and whatnot by people who spend a lot of time on forums and other types who freak out if they actually shoot their gun.
I think the only reason I have only one 6920 is because I only need one 6920. I have an LMT that has a FF rail but is really no different. Both have been shot. Both have gone out to 400 yards. Both can hit the chest of a steel target with iron sights.
I think the psychology stems from people trying to play brand names and other bizarre politics over a stupid gun. It's actually pretty sad. Maybe I'm going too far with the topic but it's just a lower, not the last chopper out of Saigon
I got rid of my Restricted marked Colts when they quit using that stupid rollmark.
When I bought mine the store I was at had a preban that he showed me. It was 1300 dollars IIRC. When he showed it to me an told me how much it was I was like why is this so expensive, he had regular 6920 for 999 and OEMs too for even less, he was like "oh..its a preban its got an LE marked lower". I was like that's nice....how about that OEM over there.
I have two Colt 6920's with the restricted markings that are LNIB sitting in the back of the safe. I'll gladly sell them off at a slight premium if anyone is interested. Be forewarned that I would immediately purchase two brand new Colt 6920's. Then take the extra money from the sale and buy ammo.
