The gun shop owner has no clue what he is talking about.
There are a lot of Windham haters out there due to the loose association with Bushwhacker. I don’t own one but I have shot a friends Windham and it ran great and was accurate. I have another buddy with a Rock River Varmint. That thing is a freaking tack driver. The main question is: are you happy with your rifle? Does it meet your needs and live up to your expectations? If so, enjoy the hell out of it and don’t worry about what other people think. Especially some know it all mall ninja gun counter salesman. They have their agenda so unless you know and trust this individual, take his advice with a grain of salt and do your due diligence before you make your purchase.
I do not know of the gun shop owner knows shit or not, sounds at the least he was trying to make a sale. Look for a shop that might have some DD, BCM, Colt, etc.
Don't be an idiot Vicious. OP, run whatever reliable rifle you can at your price point. Yes both weapons are not Noveske, LaRue, DD.... And that is alright. Get to know the rifle. What you don't do is bitch and moan about it. If its what you can afford and suits you then run it.
Rule #1, don't take gun advice from gun shop owners. Vast majority either have no idea what they are talking about and or, have $$ in mind for their "advice." A scant few are switched on and or honest (such as the owner of this forum and a few others) but they are rare. If the gun fills your needs, drive on, but you'll not find either well regarded here or by those who really know the AR as a rule.
