Extractor Spring Questions....
I have recently purchased (for the first time) some of the BravoCompany extractor spring upgrade kits, and I attempted to install them into my Colt and LMT carriers. I quickly noticed that when I install the BCM extractor upgrade kit, that it was ALMOST impossible for me to get the extractor assembly installed back into the bolt, due to the extreme tension of the new BCM spring.
I also noticed that it was TOTALLY IMPOSSIBLE to get the extractor assembly installed back into the bolt, IF I used the rubber o-ring, in conjunction with the BCM spring.
I noticed that the BCM instruction card even states that the rubber o-ring (Crane O Ring as I have always called it), is not really necessary.
Now I MIGHT have been able to use some channel lock pliers to squeeze the extractor assembly w/rubber o ring back into my bolt, but I did not want to do so just yet.
I'm personally running a 16" LMT MRP, and a Colt 6920, both of which have "H" buffers AND Tactical Springs Chrome Silicone/Moly plated buffer springs installed. The Tactical Springs buffer springs are a bit longer than the standard 10 5/8" (I think) long factory Colt and LMT buffer springs. I do not remember the exact length of the upgraded Tactical Springs buffer springs though.
I'm just wondering what you guys feel is the best combination of extractor spring/insert/o ring? Are many of you actually using BOTH the BCM spring AND O-RING together? Hell, I'm kind of worried that this would be TOO MUCH extractor tension, but is that even possible????
Finally, the Tactical Springs Buffer Spring I purchased from Grant, ALSO come with their own version of an extractor spring, and these extractor springs are the LONGEST extractor springs I've ever seen! BY FAR they are MUCH longer and the coil is MUCH thicker than the BCM extractor springs.
Anyone using this Tactical Springs extractor spring????
I'm just wondering what you guys feel about this?
I also noticed that SAW is selling a "GREEN HD Extractor Spring", which is something else I was thinking of trying.
What do you guys prefer?

I have always used a small vise after installing the upgrade parts place your bolt in the vise and push everything together, then drop the pin in works everytime for me. Although I did my shooting partners with a pair of pump pliers with the jaws taped at work as well. Either way will get the job done.
