I tell you what I have shot thousands and thousands of bolts for LMT in the past and I never seen anything like that or passed anything like that, but that was also a year ago.

Koniz,
The LMT BCG I ordered from Bravo had just got back into stock. They had been out of stock for a few days and asked to be notified when they were available by email.
So apparently this BCG is fresh from LMT.The Z proof on the bolt kinda threw me off as I have not seen one marked with that yet.
Regardless its not machined or finished nearly as well as the one I got previously from G&R.
Since you work for LMT is there a certain way to identify the bolts and carriers?
I know the fasteners used on the carrier keys are a bit different than what is used by other manufacturers.
Do the proofs such as Z or AB indicate a lot# or is a actual firing or inspection proof?
Give us some details if you can.
Update:
Sent my bolt back to LMT yesterday (08-18). Stand by for more...
Update:
And the verdict is........
Cuts from the burr knife used in the deburring process.
so are they sending you a new bolt ?
Not to my knowledge.
Well thats a bit of a disappointment...I personally would have tossed that bolt if I was doing the QC inspections. If it was sent back with a complaint of an obvious defect I would have certainly tossed it and sent a new one out.
Spent a couple years working for DNE doing QC inspections before assembly.I would have been pulled from the line for letting something pass with obvious machine, tooling and or final finish damage.
I guess if it does not affect function they let it roll.
Grant just got some fresh LMT BCG's in stock and I ordered one from him yesterday. This will be my third LMT BCG in the last month,so Im building a good collection of recent assemblies.
I will see what it looks like.
If its a bit rough as well I will be buying BCM from now on without a doubt.
Well that's disappointing, not to mention kind of iffy. I realize the deburring marks have no actual effect on performance/reliability, but you would think they'd send you a new one for "piece of mind". Would you purchase another LMT BCG in the future based on this?
"Would you purchase another LMT BCG in the future based on this? "
I honestly don't know...
