Presumably the above mags are Colt-approved third party mags? I didn't think Colt manufactured their own.

The U.S. Department of State Office of Acquisition Management
Who is that? what do they do?
I that the Colt mags were made by NHMTG in Hartsford, CT. Hmmm...
I use to be a security guard for DOS in 1993 after I got out of the Corps. I worked out in the State Department warehouses in Newington, VA. When you think about all of the 140 or so embassies and consulates we have around the world. That is a lot of security cameras, office supplies, vehicles, and weapons they buy. State also supplies the weapons for Marines on Embassy Duty. It use to be S&W model 19's, 870's and a few UZI's and mini 14's. The Marines were prohibited from using military weapons. I'm sure the 1500 or so DS agents use M4's now. David
I received my DoS Armorer certification from the facility in Springfield, VA. They have a shit load of weapons in that place. They also do all the vehicle up-armoring as well.
Not my experience, M16s, M249s and M9s were common embassies I was attached to in the 80s/90s. Did see some 870s and Smith revolvers though. never an Uzi or Mini-14. Not saying it did not happen.
Getting back on subject, this procurement might also be for all of the sub-contractors also, not just DOS employees or Marines.
Not mine either and I know several former Marine MSG personnel. These mags are more than likely for all the weapons in use by the DSS and all the sub-contractors. The State Dept. owns a crap load of weapons. I am really curious at to why this is generating some much interest? Just another typical contract.
I was curious when this would happen. When I left Ottawa Canada in July 93 the DOS was in the process of transitioning to Sigs from the 2 inch Model 19's. There was a debate then if the Marine Security Guards would ever switch to the State issued Sigs or try and go to the Beretta 92's we were use to. When I was in Kenya in 96 the MSG on post was using a model 19. I worked in Dushanbe, Tajikistan in the fall of 97 and State's Mobile Security Division was issuing out 4 inch barrel 19's and the top folding stock 870's that looked like MSG weapons to the Ambassador local guard force. To my knowledge the full auto mini 14's were just used in Columbia, Peru and Salvador. I think we had one uzi in the safe when I was assigned to Frankfurt in July 90 and I was given an uzi on post during Bush's visit to Kiev in July 91. David
All of the Gov contract mags will have a "33710" stamped on them, and they are available if you look for them.
I think I was thinking about a different place.
