I noticed that CTD has a quad rail from Leapers for $59.99 now that is a lot cheaper than $150 for a Troy, but is there a big difference? They both do the same thing right?

Leapers is an airsoft company.

I've heard that those UTG rails actually mount up pretty tight. I haven't read one negative review of them. That said, I wouldn't put them on any of my guns. :p
yeah the reviews are really good
Pyro - you're going to get a lot of the "AirSoft crap" posts - if you get anymore at all. I looked endlessly for a bad actual review on them and could find hardly any. It seems to be well-made and locks up tight. One of the reviewers I know personally and he served two combat tours in Iraq - so I think he's familiar with what works and what doesn't. I read the included rail covers are utter junk, (and heavy) - so factor in the cost of new covers, (should you choose to have them in the first place). I will say that Leapers is notorious for building/importing not so great stuff (ask me about my first vest experience). Still, I have seen happy campers who own Leapers stuff. Recently, I was next to a guy on the range who was driving tacks out of his AR with a Leapers scope on deck. He claimed to have shot a few thousand rounds - including some carbine classes with that scope on on his AR with zero issues whatsoever. There also were some questions about weight and the Troy only adds 2 ounces to your M4. Plus Troy is built in West Springfield, Massachusetts by a company who not only overbuilds their products, but stands behind them.
Ultimately, there is something else to consider. Leapers is built in China, by cheap and a likely underpaid, overworked and mistreated labor force. I know it's nearly impossible to escape "all things China", but you can make a choice to not support and send your dollars to a craphole like China in this case.
Its a risk buying leapers,,, so i might as well wait a few months and maybe ask for the Troy quad rail for christmas, but id definitely rather buy Troy and not have to worry about oh shit what if this breaks.
I looked at one and it seems pretty solid but you can tell it just doesn't look like it is made for a real weapon. I doubt you'd have any problem with it but if your going to get a rail just get a FF. Leapers rail is also made in Taiwan.
I have a Leapers/UTG quad rail on my M4. Bought it on Ebay for $63 shipped. It mounted up in a matter of about 5min, and is rock solid. I have a VFG and a Surefire on mine and I love it. As mentioned earlier though, the cheap rubber rail guards they send with it are crap. The rail itself is well built, machined to spec, nicely finished, and has plenty of ventilation. I would definitely recommend it if you're looking for a good rail for not a lot of coin. http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r...k318/015-1.jpg
Thanks .. finally someone who actually has one .. Thanks a lot man .
now if only they would make Leapers and UTG rails for the Hi-Point Carbine. hopefully they would still be compatible with the ATI CX4 Hi-Point stock.
that would be the Zombie Hunters Special Edition Hi Point carbine!!!! Zombie Squad seems to love chinese airsoft accessories and Hi-Points. seems like a match made in heaven :D
.......just teasing....really :p
i keed, i keed.
seriously, i have some of the UTG rail covers. they are ugly and heavy, but they are cheap.
even when i have MagPul ladder covers on a fore-end, i still like to use just one of the UTG ones right in front of my VFG, because its very comfortable on my hand. it also does a good job of silencing the front sling swivel...it keeps it from clicking against the front of the fore-end rail.
My wife got me this UTG rail for Christmas two years ago. It's only holding a flashlight and VFG so it works for me. It seems very sturdy and I'm not FAST roping into a hot LZ anyway. David

oh ... that sucks
no, its ok...really :D
PM inbound.
Remember, you get what you pay for. That being said, I bought a UTG quad rail about two years ago and used it until I purchased my LWRC M6A1 (which came with it's own rail).
The UTG rail is still on one of my CARs. I also purchased a KZ quad rail from Botach Tactical for about $50 and I personally think that the UTG rail is lighter and fits better. YMMV.
I recently did a M-4 upgrade. Yes everbody would love to put a Daniel Omega rail on their gun, But things like eating comes into play. So what alot of people are looking for is a good quailty, name brand part, and at a fair price.
I went with the Yankee hill rail. I'm pretty happy with it.

I have a YH free float on my first AR. It's not as nice and light as my DD light rails, but at about 1/2 the price, it's good enough for that particular rifle. Ultimately, that will be my 8 year olds first AR when he gets older.
One of the things I like about all my guns in general is that it's pretty easy to buy American made or at least from "friendly" free countries. It's actually easy to buy stuff NOT made in China. The YH stuff IMO fills a need for competitively priced stuff that's pretty decent but still not made in China. I like most of us cannot afford to buy top quality for EVERY gun I own - it's just too expensive.
