Good stuff.
AKOU are good guys in the AK world, and I'm glad they're having good experiences with BCM.
Having an optic on the gun would have likely prevented it from rolling over and getting more damage, but it's good to see he could still make a practical shot after the damage.
And FYI, stay out of the comment section. There's some stupid going around.
thanks for sharing. Looks like the rifle did quite well. I wouldn't use the kmr for a legit torture test. If they had a DD RIS II or a DD Lite III on there, there would be no damage to speak of. Function seemed solid.
^KMR-A. IIRC, Paul from BCM posted that the Alpha did slightly better than the standard KMR in their testing.
Why? The whole point to torture test something is to see what it can handle. The KMR has had nearly no public torture testing.
This test is great, because it shows that, despite damage that we all expect, the rifle's gas tube was protected and the rifle still functioned. And as a bonus, he got a first round hit at-range.
I understand the appeal of a handguard that can take anything without a scratch, but sometimes ultimate durability is lower on the list than weight or profile for those of us in IED-free areas. And as we see here, the KMR can still let you get the job done if you crush it.
totally fair point, inebriated. I just meant in terms of what your typical hard use AR is capable of, testing a rifle with a kmr isn't a great indicator of what you're going to get. Those rails are awesome for fun guns and medium use guns, but I would rather something like a Lite III on there for a hard use gun. But you're right, its great to see what the kmr is capable of sustaining and what it isn't capable of sustaining.
Guys, it was KMR-A rail. Sorry for being little sloppy in that video and i have missed info update on it.
Interesting to watch, they were very excited to find that it held zero with a bent rail.
